Pallavan
''Pallavan'' is a 2003 Indian Tamil-language drama film written and directed by Padmamagan. The film stars Manoj Bharathiraja, Rathi and Munna, while Shara and Ilavarasu also appear in supporting roles. The film was released on 28 February 2003. Cast Production Directed by Padmamagan, making his first film, several new actors were cast alongside the lead duo of Manoj Bharathiraja and Rathi. Munna, a nephew of actress Jayabharathi, made his first acting appearance and was credited as Shankar, alongside Bangalore-based actress Shara and Mukesh. Padmamagan signed up for the film after having previously written dialogues in the Raghava Lawrence-starrer ''Style'' and associated with producer Rufus Parker. The title of the film Padmamagan, was inspired by the name by which Chennai's state-owned city buses were known earlier and Padmamagan hoped to evoke nostalgia amongst the audience. Padmamagan
Padmamagan is an Indian film director, who has directed Tamil films. After making his debut in 2003 with ''Pallavan'', he has gone on to make other ventures including ''Ammuvagiya Naan'' and '' Netru Indru''. Career Padmamagan associated with producer Rufus Parker and the duo chose to make a commercial film to begin their film careers; ''Pallavan'' (2003) released with little publicity and did not perform well at the box office. With Parker, he then began work on ''Ammuvagiya Naan'' (2007), which told the story of a commercial sex worker transforming herself into a housewife. Starring Parthiban and Bharathi, the film opened to positive reviews with a critic noting "writer-director Padma Magan has come out with a movie that augers well for the future of Tamil Cinema". Manoj Bharathiraja
Manoj Kumar Bharathiraja (11 September 1976 – 25 March 2025) was an Indian actor, film director, producer and playback singer who worked in Tamil cinema. He was the son of director Bharathiraja and made his acting debut with his father's ''Taj Mahal (1999 film), Taj Mahal'' in 1999. Ilavarasu is an Indian cinematographer and actor, who works in the Tamil film industry. He started his career as a cinematographer and worked for 13 films, winning a Tamil Nadu State Film Award for one of them.
