Albert Paley
Albert Paley (born 1944) is an American modernist metal sculptor. Initially starting out as a jeweler, Paley has become one of the most distinguished and influential metalsmiths in the world. Within each of his works, three foundational elements stay true: the natural environment, the built environment, and the human presence. Paley is the first metal sculptor to have received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Institute of Architects. He lives and works in Rochester, New York with his wife, Frances. Early life and education He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania during World War II. While his father fought in the Burma Campaign, Albert and his mother lived with his maternal grandparents. Most of Paley's free-time in his young years became occupied by model-kits and the outdoors. William Paley (July 174325 May 1805) was an English Anglican clergyman, Christian apologetics, Christian apologist, philosopher, and Utilitarianism, utilitarian. Prince Vladimir Pavlovich Paley (; 9 January 1897 – 18 July 1918) was a Russian nobleman and poet who was murdered by the Bolsheviks when he was 21 years old. Life He was born as Vladimir von Pistohlkors in Saint Petersburg, Russia, on 9 January 1897. His father was Grand Duke Paul Alexandrovich of Russia, the youngest child of Emperor Alexander II. Vivian Gussin Paley (January 25, 1929 – July 26, 2019) was an American pre-school and kindergarten teacher and early childhood education researcher. She taught and did most of her research at the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools and was the recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship, as well as the author of numerous books. Ronald "Ron" Frank Paley (born November 20, 1950) is a Canadian composer, arranger, pianist, electric bassist, and big-band leader based in Winnipeg. Formation Paley earned his B.Mus. at the University of Manitoba in 1972, studying piano under William Aide; he also studied under Ray Santisi at Berklee College of Music (1972–73), and privately in New York under Richie Beirach (piano), Bob Brookmeyer (composition, 1989–90), and others. Paley toured internationally from 1973 to 1975 as the electric bassist in turn with the Buddy Rich big band, and the Woody Herman big band.
