Pacific Music Awards
The Pacific Music Awards are an annual New Zealand music award ceremony since 2005 that honours excellence in Pacific music in New Zealand. The awards honour musicians who primarily work in the Pacific Island style of music from the Music of the Cook Islands, Cook Islands, Music of Fiji, Fiji, Music of Niue, Niue, Music of Samoa, Samoa, Music of Tonga, Tonga, Music of Tokelau, Tokelau or Music of Tuvalu, Tuvalu, and also in Urban contemporary, urban and Gospel music, gospel genre categories. Organisation The Pacific Music Awards are run by the Pacific Music Awards Committee, which was founded in 2004 with the goal of establishing and running an annual awards for the Pacific music community in New Zealand. Ardijah
Ardijah is a music group from Auckland, New Zealand, that formed in 1979. History Ardijah formed in 1979 and spent the early part of the eighties playing the Auckland pub and club scene honing their skills as a covers band. They released their first single in 1986, " Give Me Your Number" which was followed in 1987 with " Your Love Is Blind". A re-vamp of the 1st album came out in late 1988 titled '' Take a Chance''. From this came the singles " Watchin' U" and "Which Way Is Up". ''Take a Chance'' held a top 20 position on the sales charts for four months and achieved platinum status in New Zealand. Adeaze are a New Zealand R&B/soul duo of brothers Nainz and Viiz Tupai. The group's debut album, ''Always and for Real'', was released in 2004 and topped the album chart in New Zealand. History Brought up playing music in the church, the brothers used the time wisely crafting their skills with different instruments and live performance. "Dreaming" is the third single from Scribe's debut album, '' The Crusader''. In New Zealand, it was released as a double A-side with " So Nice". Lyrically, the song is about Scribe's childhood aspirations. It had commercial success in New Zealand and Australia, appearing on the singles charts of both countries, and topping the former. "Dreaming" was included on ''Pasifika - The Collection'', compiled by the managers of the Pasifika Festival. The compilation album debuted at number one on the New Zealand Music Compilations Chart. Malo Ioane Luafutu, also called Jeshua Ioane Luafutu (born on 29 May 1979), and better known by his stage name Scribe, is a New Zealand rapper of Samoans, Samoan descent. Sanerivi "Sani" Sagala (born 24 August 1974), better known by his stage name Dei Hamo, is a New Zealand rapper, producer and director. Dei Hamo, which can be translated as "The Samoan", has won various awards for his chart-topping music and his first album '' First Edition'', released in 2005. He lives in Māngere, Auckland. Background Dei Hamo's musical career spans more than 15 years. He was part of the Proud hip hop tour and has worked with some of New Zealand's top musicians and performers, including Boh Runga, Tha Feelstyle and DJ Sammy B. Kas Futialo, known by the stage name Tha Feelstyle, is a New Zealand hip hop artist of Samoan descent. His first album was '' Break It To Pieces'' in 2004. Tha Feelstyle was born in Samoa and moved to New Zealand in the 1980s. He raps in English as well as the Samoan language. History Tha Feelstyle entered his first rap competition in 1987 and under the name of RIQ was part of the Wellington hip hop duo Rough Opinion with Samoan rapper K.O.S.
