A strike is a directed physical attack with either a part of the human body or with an inanimate object (such as a weapon) intended to cause blunt trauma or penetrating trauma upon an opponent. There are many different varieties of strikes. The Adversary is a fictional character, a demonic supervillain appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Publication history The Adversary first appeared in ''Uncanny X-Men'' #187-188 (November-December 1984), and was created by Chris Claremont and John Romita Jr. Fictional character biography The Adversary is a demon who was initially summoned by the X-Men member Forge several decades ago and has since come back to antagonize the X-Men and threaten the entire world. The adversarial system or adversary system is a legal system used in the common law countries where two advocates represent their parties' case or position before an impartial person or group of people, usually a judge or jury, who attempt to determine the truth and pass judgment accordingly. It is in contrast to the inquisitorial system used in some civil law systems (i.e. those deriving from Roman law or the Napoleonic code) where a judge investigates the case. It is distinguished from other suits by being filed a United States bankruptcy court in connection with a larger bankruptcy proceeding.
