Oregon State Beavers Baseball
The Oregon State Beavers baseball team represents Oregon State University in NCAA Division I college baseball. The team participates as an Independent, since the Pac-12 Conference's dissolution in 2024. They are currently coached by Mitch Canham and assistant coaches Ryan Gipson, Darwin Barney and Rich Dorman. They play home games in Goss Stadium at Coleman Field. The Beavers won the 2006 College World Series, 2006, 2007 College World Series, 2007 and 2018 College World Series to become the winningest collegiate baseball program in the Super Regionals era. In addition, the program has won 26 conference championships, qualified for 23 NCAA tournaments, and appeared in eight College World Series. With the Pac-12 Conference, Pac-12 baseball league ceasing to exist after the 2023-24 season, the Beavers will become a NCAA Division I independent schools, baseball Independent beginning in 2025. Scott Barnes (athletic Director)
Scott Barnes (born June 23, 1962) is the vice president and athletic director at Oregon State University. He was previously the athletic director at Utah State University and the University of Pittsburgh. Career During his tenure at Utah State University, Barnes greatly increased funding for all Aggie sports, and oversaw the hiring of football coach Gary Andersen and the completion of the Jim & Carol Laub Athletics-Academics Complex on campus. He also worked to improve the public image and visibility of Aggie sports, which included inking deals with statewide and national TV stations, as well as a sponsorship deal with the Maverik chain of service stations, resulting in the renaming of the university's Maverik Stadium, football stadium in April 2015. 1963 NCAA University Division Baseball Tournament
The 1963 NCAA University Division baseball tournament was played at the end of the 1963 NCAA University Division baseball season to determine the national champion of college baseball. The tournament concluded with eight teams competing in the College World Series, a double-elimination tournament in its seventeenth year. Eight regional districts sent representatives to the College World Series with preliminary rounds within each district serving to determine each representative. These events would later become known as regionals. Each district had its own format for selecting teams, resulting in 23 teams participating in the tournament at the conclusion of their regular season, and in some cases, after a conference tournament. The 2007 NCAA Division I baseball tournament was held from June 1 to 24, . Sixty-four NCAA Division I college baseball teams advanced to the post season tournament after having played through a regular season, and for some, a conference tournament. The 2007 tournament culminated with 8 teams advancing to the College World Series at historic Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska, on June 15. Unseeded Oregon State repeated as national champions, winning all five of its games in the 2007 CWS. Oregon State went undefeated through the College World Series, posting a 5–0 record. Sixty-four NCAA Division I college baseball teams met after having played their way through a regular season, and for some, a conference tournament, to play in the NCAA tournament.
