Oregon's 60th House District
District 60 of the Oregon House of Representatives is one of 60 House legislative districts in the state of Oregon. As of 2013, the boundary for the district includes all of Baker, Grant, Harney, and Malheur counties and a portion of Lake County. Oregon's sixtieth state house district is currently held by Mark Owens. It was previously represented by Republican RepresentativLynn Findley who was appointed to the Oregon State Senateon January 6, 2020. Oregon House District 60
Oregon () is a state in the Pacific Northwest region of the Western United States. The Columbia River delineates much of Oregon's northern boundary with Washington, while the Snake River delineates much of its eastern boundary with Idaho. Oregon Legislative Assembly
The Oregon Legislative Assembly is the state legislature for the U.S. state of Oregon. The Legislative Assembly is bicameral, consisting of an upper and lower house: the Senate, whose 30 members are elected to serve four-year terms; and the House of Representatives, with 60 members elected to two-year terms. There are no term limits for either house in the Legislative Assembly. Each Senate district is composed of exactly two House districts: Senate District 1 contains House Districts 1 and 2, SD 2 contains HD 3 and HD 4, and so on. Lynn Findley
Lynn P. Findley (born 1952) is an American politician serving as a member of the Oregon State Senate. He represents the 30th district, which covers much of Eastern Oregon. Biography Findley was born in Vale, graduating from Vale High School in 1970 and then from Treasure Valley Community College. He worked with the Bureau of Land Management for 32 years, retiring in 2003. He also has served on many planning and development commissions in southeastern Oregon. In 2012, Findley ran for Malheur County commissioner, losing the Republican primary. He was appointed interim Malheur County Justice of the Peace in August 2012, following the incumbent's death, and served until January 2013, when an elected successor took office. Findley served as city manager of Vale from July 2013 until January 2018. The ''Argus Observer'' is the daily newspaper of Ontario, Oregon, United States. The newspaper was established on January 6, 1897, and went through several names and owners before becoming the ''Argus Observer'', which is a reference to Argus Panoptes, a creature from Greek mythology that had 100 eyes. Oregon Senate
The Oregon State Senate is the upper house of the statewide legislature for the US state of Oregon. Along with the lower chamber Oregon House of Representatives it makes up the Oregon Legislative Assembly. There are 30 members of the state Senate, representing 30 districts across the state, each with a population of 127,700. The state Senate meets in the east wing of the Oregon State Capitol in Salem. Oregon state senators serve four-year terms without term limits. In 2002, the Oregon Supreme Court struck down the decade-old Oregon Ballot Measure 3, that had restricted state senators to two terms (eight years) on procedural grounds. Cliff Stewart Bentz (born January 12, 1952) is an American lawyer, rancher, and politician serving as the U.S. representative for Oregon's 2nd congressional district. A member of the Republican Party, he is the ranking member on the House Natural Resources Committee Subcommittee on Water, Oceans and Wildlife and sits on the House Judiciary Committee. He previously served in the Oregon Senate, representing the 30th district in Eastern Oregon. He also served in the Oregon House of Representatives, representing the 60th district, which encompasses Malheur, Baker, Harney, and Grant counties, and part of Lake County, and includes the cities of Baker City, Burns, and Ontario. Write-in Candidate
A write-in candidate is a candidate whose name does not appear on the ballot but seeks election by asking voters to cast a vote for the candidate by physically writing in the person's name on the ballot. The GOP was founded in 1854 by anti-slavery activists who opposed the Kansas–Nebraska Act, which allowed for the potential expansion of chattel slavery into the western territories.
