Oregon's 55th House District
District 55 of the Oregon House of Representatives is one of 60 House legislative districts in the state of Oregon. As of 2013, the boundary for the district includes all of Crook County and portions of Deschutes, Jackson, Klamath, and Lake counties. The current representative for the district is Republican Mike McLane of Powell Butte. Oregon () is a U.S. state, state in the Pacific Northwest region of the Western United States. Powell Butte, Oregon
Powell Butte is an unincorporated community in Crook County, Oregon, United States, and named after the nearby Powell Buttes. It is on Oregon Route 126 west of Prineville and east of Redmond. Powell Butte post office was established in 1909. Climate This region experiences warm (but not hot) and dry summers, with no average monthly temperatures above . Write-in Candidate
A write-in candidate is a candidate whose name does not appear on the ballot but seeks election by asking voters to cast a vote for the candidate by physically writing in the person's name on the ballot. George Gilman (Oregon Politician)
George Gilman (1939 – December 2, 2016) was a politician from the U.S. state of Oregon. He served as the state representative for District 55 of the Oregon House of Representatives, the second largest House district in Oregon, from 2003 to 2011. A Republican, he served as vice-chair of the Transportation Committee as vice-chair and the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Transportation and Economic Development. Gilman represented the people of Lake and Crook Counties and of portions of Jackson, Deschutes, and Klamath counties. He was elected to the newly created District 55 in November 2002, and was elected to a fourth term in 2008. Ben Westlund
Bernard John "Ben" Westlund II (September 3, 1949 – March 7, 2010) was an American politician in the U.S. state of Oregon. A Democrat, he was elected State Treasurer in 2008. Previously, Westlund served in both houses of the Oregon Legislative Assembly, as a Republican from 1996 to 2006, as an independent from 2006 to 2007, and then as a Democrat. Westlund dropped his Republican party affiliation to run for Governor of Oregon in the 2006 election, but dropped out of the race in August. In December 2006 he became a Democrat. The Oregon Legislative Assembly is the state legislature for the U.S. state of Oregon. The Legislative Assembly is bicameral, consisting of an upper and lower house: the Senate, whose 30 members are elected to serve four-year terms; and the House of Representatives, with 60 members elected to two-year terms. There are no term limits for either house in the Legislative Assembly. Each Senate district is composed of exactly two House districts: Senate District 1 contains House Districts 1 and 2, SD 2 contains HD 3 and HD 4, and so on. The duties of the office are auditor of public accounts, chief elections officer, and administrator of public records. Mike McLane
Michael R. McLane is a judge on the 22nd Circuit Court of Oregon and a former Republican politician in the state's Legislature. McLane resigned his seat representing House District 55 in the Oregon House of Representatives on July 1, 2019. He was appointed to the circuit court bench by Democratic Governor Kate Brown. Early life and career Born in Condon, Oregon, McLane graduated from Condon High School in 1983, and then from Oregon State University with a degree in Agricultural Resource Economics in 1987.
