Oregon's 47th House District
District 47 of the Oregon House of Representatives is one of 60 House legislative districts in the state of Oregon. As of 2013, the boundary for the district includes a portion of Multnomah County. It was formerly represented by Democrat Diego Hernandez of Portland who resigned in February 2021 amid an ethics scandal. His replacement will be decided in April. Oregon () is a state in the Pacific Northwest region of the Western United States. The Columbia River delineates much of Oregon's northern boundary with Washington, while the Snake River delineates much of its eastern boundary with Idaho. Independent Party Of Oregon
The Independent Party of Oregon (IPO) is a centrist political party in the U.S. state of Oregon with more than 135,000 registrants since its inception in January 2007. The IPO is Oregon's third-largest political party and the first political party other than the Democratic Party and Republican Party to be recognized by the state of Oregon as a major political party. Since 2009, the party has had multiple city and local officials elected as members. In 2021 State Senator Brian Boquist, a former Republican, became the only Independent member of the state legislature. Jessica Vega Pederson is a Democratic politician in the U.S. state of Oregon. She served in the Oregon House of Representatives, for two two-year terms, from January 2013 through 2016. The Republican Party, also referred to as the GOP ("Grand Old Party"), is one of the two major contemporary political parties in the United States. Write-in Candidate
A write-in candidate is a candidate whose name does not appear on the ballot but seeks election by asking voters to cast a vote for the candidate by physically writing in the person's name on the ballot. Jeffrey Alan Merkley (born October 24, 1956) is an American politician serving as the junior United States senator from Oregon since 2009. Joanne Verger
Joanne Verger (1930-2023) was an Oregon Democratic politician and the first female mayor of Coos Bay, the largest city on the Oregon Coast, serving four terms. She served in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2001 to 2004, and was elected to the Oregon State Senate in 2004. She was reelected in 2008 with no major party opponent in either the primary or general election. In October 2011 Verger announced that she would not run for reelection to the Senate.
