Oregon's 11th Senate District
District 11 of the Oregon State Senate comprises parts of Marion County, including Woodburn and much of Salem. It is currently represented by Democrat Peter Courtney of Salem. Election results District boundaries have changed over time, therefore, senators before 2013 may not represent the same constituency as today. From 1993 until 2003, the district covered parts of Multnomah County Multnomah County is one of the 36 counties in the U.S. state of Oregon. Oregon () is a state in the Pacific Northwest region of the Western United States. The Republican Party, also referred to as the GOP ("Grand Old Party"), is one of the two major contemporary political parties in the United States. The GOP was founded in 1854 by anti-slavery activists who opposed the Kansas–Nebraska Act, which allowed for the potential expansion of chattel slavery into the western territories. Patti Milne
Patricia R. Milne (born 1947/48) is an American politician from the state of Oregon. A Republican, she served in the Oregon House of Representatives from 1993 until 1998, and as a Marion County Commissioner from 1999 until 2014. Biography Milne was elected to the Woodburn School Board in 1988, and to the state House of Representatives in 1992. She served three terms in the House, serving as Majority Whip in 1995, before retiring to run for the Marion County Board of Commissioners in 1998, serving until 2014. In 2014, she ran for the Oregon Senate from district 11, losing to incumbent Democrat Peter Courtney with 45% of the vote. The Constitution Party, formerly the U.S. Taxpayers' Party until 1999, is a political party in the United States that promotes a religious conservative view of the principles and intents of the United States Constitution. The party platform is based on originalist interpretations of the Constitution and shaped by principles which it believes were set forth in the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, the Constitution and the Bible. Chris Gorsek (born January 28, 1958 in Portland, Oregon) is an American politician and a Democratic member of the Oregon State Senate representing District 25 since January 11, 2021. John Minnis
John Minnis (born December 14, 1953) is a former Republican legislator and police officer in the U.S. state of Oregon. He was a member of both houses of the Oregon Legislative Assembly, representing eastern Multnomah County. He and his wife Karen, who was Speaker of the Oregon House of Representatives in the mid-2000s, were at one time considered the "most powerful duo in the Oregon Legislature." From 2004 to 2009 he headed the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training. Early life Minnis graduated Madison High School in Portland, Oregon. John Lim
John Lim (born December 23, 1935) is a South Korean-born American politician from the state of Oregon. He has served in both houses of the Oregon Legislative Assembly and was the Oregon State Senate Majority Leader in 1995. He has unsuccessfully run for the U.S. Senate and for the Republican Party (United States), Republican nomination for Governor of Oregon. Early life Lim was born in Yeoju, Gyeonggi-do, Korea. As an adolescent, Lim suffered from tuberculosis for five years, from which he nearly died. He was married in 1963 and graduated from Seoul Theological College in 1964 with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion. He emigrated to the United States in 1966, penniless. When he first arrived in America, he had no resources and worked as a janitor. He later had plans to become a Catholic priest. Oregon State Senate
The Oregon State Senate is the upper house of the statewide legislature for the US state of Oregon. Along with the lower chamber Oregon House of Representatives it makes up the Oregon Legislative Assembly. There are 30 members of the state Senate, representing 30 districts across the state, each with a population of 127,700. The state Senate meets in the east wing of the Oregon State Capitol in Salem. Glenn David Otto Jr. (born March 11, 1996) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2021.
