''Olearia paucidentata'', the autumn scrub daisy, is a species of flowering plant in the family Asteraceae and is endemic to the south-west of Western Australia. It is a shrub with variably-shaped leaves, and white, mauve or blue and mauve or yellow, daisy-like inflorescences. Description ''Olearia paucidentata'' is a shrub that typically grows to a height of up to , its stems and leaves somewhat sticky. The leaves are variably shaped, usually elliptic, egg-shaped, spoon-shaped, wedge-shaped or linear, long and wide on a petiole about long. Some leaves have up to four lobes on the edges. The heads or daisy-like "flowers" are arranged in panicles on the ends of branches on a short peduncle and are in diameter with a conical, top-shaped or cup-shaped involucre at the base. Joachim Steetz
Joachim Steetz (12 November 1804 – 24 March 1862) was a German botanist. His herbarium, comprising more than 5000 specimens from over 160 collectors and 30 countries was purchased in 1863 by Victorian Government Botanist Ferdinand von Mueller for the sum of 80 pounds. The collection is currently housed at the National Herbarium of Victoria. An achene (; ), also sometimes called akene and occasionally achenium or achenocarp, is a type of simple fruit, simple dry fruits, dry fruit produced by many species of flowering plants. The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) is an organisation significantly involved in the development of the ALA. Johann Georg Christian Lehmann
Johann Georg Christian Lehmann (25 February 1792 – 12 February 1860) was a German botanist. Born at Haselau, near Uetersen, Holstein, Lehmann studied medicine in Copenhagen and Göttingen, obtained a doctorate in medicine in 1813 and a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Jena in 1814. He spent the rest of his life as professor of physics and natural sciences, and head librarian, at the '' Gymnasium Academicum'' in Hamburg. A prolific monographist of apparently quarrelsome character, he was a member of 26 learned societies and the founder of the Hamburg Botanical Garden (, now the Alter Botanischer Garten Hamburg). In Asteraceae, the pappus is the modified calyx_(botany), calyx, the part of an individual floret, that surrounds the base of the petal, corolla tube in flower. George Bentham
George Bentham (22 September 1800 – 10 September 1884) was an English botanist, described by the weed botanist Duane Isely as "the premier systematic botanist of the nineteenth century". Born into a distinguished family, he initially studied law, but had a fascination with botany from an early age, which he soon pursued, becoming president of the Linnaean Society in 1861, and a fellow of the Royal Society in 1862.
