Old St Mark's Anglican Church is a heritage-listed former church and current church hall at 2 Boronia Drive and 41A Winnetts Road, Daisy Hill, City of Logan, Queensland, Australia. It was built in 1901 by W Anthony. It was known as St Mark's Anglican Church. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 30 March 2001. History The Winnetts Road property on which St Mark's Anglican church is sited was donated in 1880 by the Gommersall family for use as a community burial ground. Mrs and Mrs Gommersall were the first to be buried in the cemetery and their graves are dated 1883. On Friday 9 March 1900, a committee formed by local families met in the local school building to plan for the building of a church in Slacks Creek and it was agreed to build the church within the site originally set aside for burials. Slacks Creek is a suburb in the City of Logan, Queensland, Australia. In the , Slacks Creek had a population of 10,432 people. Geography The Pacific Motorway forms most of the eastern boundary of the suburb. The creek that gave its name to the district is part of the Logan River catchment and was named after the Slack family who had a cattle run there before the days of closer settlement. The Aboriginal name for it was Mungaree, place of fishes, which is the name they gave to their property. William Webber (bishop)
William Thomas Thornhill Webber (30 January 1837 – 3 August 1903) was the third Anglican Bishop of Brisbane in Queensland, Australia. Early life Webber was born in London, the son of a surgeon, William Webber and his wife Eliza (née Preston). He was educated at Tonbridge School, Kent, at Norwich School under John Woolley and Pembroke College, Oxford where he obtained B.A. in 1859 and M.A. in 1862. Religious life Webber was ordained a deacon in 1860 and a priest in 1861. Webber spent four years as curate of Chiswick (1860–64). He was then Vicar of St John the Evangelist, Holborn, (1864–85) and was a member of the London School Board (1882–85). He was consecrated bishop of Brisbane on 11 June 1885 by Edward White Benson, Archbishop of Canterbury, at St Paul's Cathedral, London and enthroned on 17 November 1885 in St John's Cathedral, Brisbane. Logan City is a local government area situated within the south of the Brisbane metropolitan area in South East Queensland, Australia.
