Old Settler's Music Festival
Old Settler's Music Festival is an annual music festival held in Tilmon, Texas, just southeast of Lockhart, Texas. The festival, started in 1987, features artists from Texas and beyond. Camping, arts and crafts, food and drink are available. The festival is represented at numerous music events including the International Folk Alliance Conference, the Americana Music Festival & Conference, South By Southwest, the International Bluegrass Music Festival's World of Bluegrass, and the International Music Festival Conference. History The Old Settler's Bluegrass Festival was first held in Old Settler's Park in Round Rock, Texas. Bluegrass Music
Bluegrass music is a genre of American roots music that developed in the 1940s in the Appalachian region of the United States. The genre derives its name from the band Bill Monroe and the Blue Grass Boys. Tilmon is an unincorporated community in Caldwell County, in the U.S. state of Texas. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had a population of 117 in 2000. Lockhart is a city in and the county seat of Caldwell County, Texas, United States. According to the 2020 census, its population was 14,379. History The city of Lockhart is named after Byrd Lockhart, an assistant surveyor of Green DeWitt and reportedly the first Anglo to set foot in Caldwell County.
