Odd How People Shake
''Odd How People Shake'' is the first studio album by the post-hardcore band Fear Before, released under their former name, Fear Before the March of Flames. It was released in 2003 via Rise Records. On a budget of $1,500, the album was recorded and co-produced with Kris Crummett at Interlace Studios in Hillsboro, Oregon, from April to May 2003, while the band members were still in high school. A music video was released for the song "The 20th Century Was Entirely Mine". It was re-released by Equal Vision Records in January 2004. Critical reception '' Drowned in Sound'' wrote that "this debut is far from the fully-realised final product, but as blueprints for future releases go, it's pretty special." Fear Before (originally known as Fear Before the March of Flames) was an American post-hardcore band formed in Aurora, Colorado. As stated in their Alternative Press podcast, their name originates from a Denver Post newspaper headline about the 2002 Hayman fire titled "The Fear Before The March of Flames." They released their debut album ''Odd How People Shake'' in 2003 with a re-release in January 2004, second album '' Art Damage'' in September 2004, third album '' The Always Open Mouth'' in September 2006, and fourth album ''Fear Before'' in October 2008. In 2010 the band announced they were going into an indefinite hiatus. John Baldwin Gourley (born June 12, 1981) is an American musician, singer, and songwriter from Alaska. He is the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of the rock band Portugal. The Man, with the hit song "Feel It Still". Gourley was previously the lead singer in post-hardcore band Anatomy of a Ghost. Kris Crummett is an American record producer and owner of Interlace Audio in Portland, Oregon. Crummett started recording in 2002. He has worked with many notable indie music record labels, including Rise Records, Epitaph Records, Fearless Records, Sumerian Records, Equal Vision Records, and Sony Japan. He is best known for his work with bands such as Sleeping With Sirens, Issues, Dance Gavin Dance, Drop Dead, Gorgeous and Alesana.
