Oceanic (Isis Album)
''Oceanic'' is the second full-length album by American post-metal band ISIS, released on September 17, 2002, by Ipecac Recordings. On November 4, 2014, a remastered edition was released via Hydrahead/Ipecac Recordings. Since its release, ''Oceanic'' has received critical acclaim and has been regarded as a masterpiece. On July 23, 2006, Isis performed ''Oceanic'' in its entirety at KOKO, Camden Town, London as part of the All Tomorrow's Parties curated Don't Look Back series. This performance was recorded and eventually released in 2009 as '' Live V''. The track "Weight" was used in the 20th episode of the 1st season of the 2007 television series '' Friday Night Lights''. Don't Look Back (concert Series)
Don't Look Back was a yearly series of concerts in which London-based promoters All Tomorrow's Parties would ask artists and bands to play one of their seminal albums live in its entirety. The season started in London in 2005, and has since spread its wings further each year, appearing from 2006 onwards in America and Europe (ATP has hosted stages of Don't Look Back performances at Barcelona's Primavera Sound festival and the Pitchfork Music Festival in Union Park, Chicago), and in 2008 onwards in Australia. Metal Storm (also known as MetalStorm.net, MetalStorm.ee, MetalStorm.eu or just MS) is a webzine specializing in various forms of heavy metal music. Collector's Guide Publishing (CGP) is a Canadian publisher based in Burlington, Ontario, Canada. History The company's first publication was Robert Godwin's Illustrated Collector's Guide to Led Zeppelin released in 1987. Owner Godwin also founded the independent record label Griffin Music in 1989. CGP would supply books for music collectors to the Griffin label for inclusion in box sets with accompanying compact discs. CD/Book packages included sets by Hawkwind, Motörhead, Wishbone Ash and Olivia Newton-John. In 1998 Godwin started an imprint called Apogee Books specifically for publishing space flight related books. This came about due to a request by Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin for Godwin to create a book to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the flight of Apollo 8. Martin Popoff (born April 28, 1963) is a Canadian music journalist, critic and author. He is mainly known for writing about heavy metal music. The senior editor and co-founder of '' Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles'', he has written over twenty books that both critically evaluate heavy metal and document its history. The Red Sea (EP)
''The Red Sea'' is an EP by Isis. An expansion of the sound pioneered on their previous release ''Mosquito Control'', this EP offers a slight evolution toward the direction Isis would begin to take with their first full length, '' Celestial''. The three songs which make up the original EP (tracks 1–3) are tied together with spoken word samples from the short-lived television series ''Hotel Room'' (specifically, the third episode, entitled "Blackout"). The song "Ochre" contains a sample from the film ''Dead Man'' by Jim Jarmusch, and is a reading of a portion of William Blake's poem " Auguries of Innocence". The album was first released on CD and 8" vinyl. Relapse Records is an American independent record label based in Upper Darby Township, Pennsylvania. It was founded by Matthew F. Jacobson in 1990.
