O'Kane is an Irish surname, anglicised from the Irish Ó Catháin, and was the name of a significant clann in Ulster, a province of Ireland. Eunan Charles O'Kane ( ; born 10 July 1990) is a professional footballer who most recently played as a midfielder for Leeds United. Born in Northern Ireland, he represented the country at various youth international levels before switching to the Republic of Ireland at U21. Richard Hetherington O'Kane (February 2, 1911 – February 16, 1994) was a United States Navy submarine commander in World War II, who was awarded the Medal of Honor for commanding in the Pacific War against Japan to the most successful record of any United States submarine ever. He also received three Navy Crosses and three Silver Stars, for a total of seven awards of the United States military's three highest decorations for valor in combat. Gerard O'Kane (born 5 October 1984) is a Gaelic footballer who plays for the Derry county team, with whom he has won a National League title. He plays his club football for John Mitchel's Glenullin and has won a Derry Senior Football Championship with the club. John Andrew O'Kane (born 15 November 1974) is an English former professional footballer who played as a defender. He started his career with Manchester United but failed to break into the first team, and after loan spells with Wimbledon, Bury and Bradford City, he made a permanent move to Everton in January 1998. There he found first-team opportunities easier to come by, but a change of manager at the end of the 1997–98 season meant he fell out of favour again and was sent on loan to Burnley at the start of the 1998–99 season. He went on loan again to Bolton Wanderers at the start of 1999–2000, a move that was made permanent a month later. Maggie O'Kane is an Irish journalist and documentary film maker. She has been most associated with ''The Guardian'' newspaper where she was a foreign correspondent who filed graphic stories from Sarajevo while it was under siege between 1992 and 1996. Aidan O'Kane (born 24 November 1979 in Belfast, Northern Ireland) is a retired footballer. While at Cliftonville, he played in the UEFA Intertoto Cup. Liam O'Kane
William O'Kane is a Northern Irish former footballer. He played as a defender. Club career O'Kane began his career with Derry City F.C. He signed for Nottingham Forest in November 1968 and made his League debut on 30 April 1969 against Leeds United F.C. Initially, he succeeded Terry Hennessey at centre back, but in 1971 he moved to right back and stayed there for the rest of his career. His best period was 1973–76, on his return from a broken leg, but injuries were never far away and they finally finished him as a player in the 1975–76 season, when he was still only 28.
