New Jersey Legislative Districts, 2021 Apportionment
The members of the New Jersey Legislature are chosen from 40 electoral districts. Each district elects one New Jersey Senate, Senator and two New Jersey General Assembly, Assemblymen. New Jersey is one of only seven U.S. states, states with Nesting (voting districts), nested state legislative districts, in which the lower house's districts are coextensive with a single state Senate seat. In New Jersey, each district elects one Senator and two Assembly members. New Jersey Senate
The New Jersey Senate was established as the upper house of the New Jersey Legislature by the Constitution of 1844, replacing the Legislative Council. There are 40 legislative districts, representing districts with an average population of 232,225 (2020 figure). Each district has one senator and two members of the New Jersey General Assembly, the lower house of the legislature. Prior to the election in which they are chosen, senators must be a minimum of 30 years old and a resident of the state for four years to be eligible to serve in office. From 1844 until 1965 (when the '' Reynolds v. Sims'' US Supreme Court decision mandated all state legislators be elected from districts of roughly equal population), each county was an electoral district electing one senator. South Dakota
South Dakota (; Sioux: , ) is a U.S. state in the North Central region of the United States. It is also part of the Great Plains. Downe, New Jersey
Downe Township is a township in Cumberland County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It is part of the Vineland- Bridgeton metropolitan statistical area for statistical purposes. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 1,399, a decrease of 186 (−11.7%) from the 2010 census count of 1,585, which in turn reflected decline of 46 (−2.8%) from the 1,631 counted in the 2000 census. Dennis Township is a township in Cape May County, New Jersey, United States. It is part of the Ocean City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The township's population as of the 2020 United States census was 6,285, a drop of 182 from the 2010 Census enumeration of 6,467, in turn a decline of 25 (−0.4%) from the 6,492 counted in the 2000 Census. Dennis Township was incorporated as a township by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 1, 1827, from portions of Upper Township. NJ 101
Route 101 was a proposed state highway in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It was planned in 1939 as a freeway from Kearny to Hackensack, but it was never built. Route S101 was a northern extension of Route 101 planned at the same time from Hackensack through Paramus to the New York state line at Montvale. The section from Hackensack to Paramus was never built; the section from Paramus to the state line was built as part of the Garden State Parkway (Route 444) instead. Both designations were repealed in the 1953 renumbering. Route description Route 101 was planned to begin at Harrison Avenue in Kearny, Hudson County. United States 2020 Census
The United States census of 2020 was the twenty-fourth decennial United States census. Census Day, the reference day used for the census, was April 1, 2020. Other than a pilot study during the 2000 census, this was the first U.S. census to offer options to respond online or by phone, in addition to the paper response form used for previous censuses. The census was taken during the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected its administration. The census recorded a resident population of 331,449,281 in the fifty states and the District of Columbia, an increase of 7.4 percent, or 22,703,743, over the preceding decade. The growth rate was the second-lowest ever recorded, and the net increase was the sixth highest in history. New Jersey Constitution
The Constitution of the State of New Jersey is the basic governing document of the State of New Jersey. In addition to three British Royal Charters issued for East Jersey, West Jersey and united New Jersey while they were still colonies, the state has been governed by three constitutions. The first was adopted on July 2, 1776, shortly before New Jersey ratified the United States Declaration of Independence and the second came into effect in 1844.
