Neuse River
The Neuse River ( , Tuscarora: Neyuherú·kęʔkì·nęʔ) is a river rising in the Piedmont of North Carolina and emptying into Pamlico Sound below New Bern. Its total length is approximately , making it the longest river entirely contained in North Carolina. The Trent River joins the Neuse at New Bern. Its drainage basin, measuring in area, also lies entirely inside North Carolina. It is formed by the confluence of the Flat and Eno rivers prior to entering the Falls Lake reservoir in northern Wake County. Its fall line shoals, known as the ''Falls of the Neuse'', lie submerged under the waters of Falls Lake. Auburn is an unincorporated community in Wake County, North Carolina, United States, just southeast of Raleigh. It lies approximately halfway between Garner and Clayton along Garner Road, a former alignment of US 70. The borders of the community are not well defined, but it is centered along Garner Road between Auburn Church Road and Guy Road. Shotwell, North Carolina
Shotwell is an unincorporated community in rural eastern Wake County, North Carolina, United States, located about south of Knightdale, North Carolina, Knightdale and east of Raleigh, North Carolina, Raleigh at the confluence of Smithfield, Mial Plantation, Major Slade, Grasshopper, and Turnipseed Roads. Shotwell has been inhabited since the early 19th century and is home to a number of historic structures. A post office was established in 1883 but closed less than two decades later. Holly Springs is a town in Wake County, North Carolina, United States. As of the 2020 census, the town population was 41,239, a 67% increase from 2010. History Etymology The town's name refers to the free flowing springs that emerge into a stream and small lake surrounded by large mature holly trees. Early history The Tuscarora Indians used the area around Holly Springs as a hunting ground prior to colonial settlement. This tribe fled North Carolina around 1720 to escape the influx of Europeans and eventually became the sixth nation of the Iroquois.
