National Kaohsiung First University of Science and Technology (NKFUST; ) was a national coeducational university in Nanzih District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. It was colloquially known as Gaokeda ('高科大®'', Pinyin Gaōkēdà) or Gaoxiongkeda ('高雄科大®'', Pinyin Gaōxióngkēdà). Its campus is on 750,000 m2. Cijin District (; Hokkien POJ: ''Kî-tin-khu'') is a district of Kaohsiung City, Taiwan, covering Cijin Island () and islands in the South China Sea. It is the second smallest district in Kaohsiung City after Yancheng District, with an area of 1.4639 square kilometers, or 0.5652 square miles. Sanmin District () is a district of Kaohsiung, Taiwan. History During the Ming dynasty, the Wang, Tsai, and Cheng families built houses in the area to farm the land. The area was thus named ''Sankuaicu'' (). After the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China, the area was renamed Sanmin to set a good example. Geography The current population of Sanmin District is 358,081 people, consisting of 176,811 males and 181,270 females. National Kaohsiung Marine University (NKMU; ) was a university in Nanzih District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The current total number of students is 8,000. In 2018, it has been merged into the "Nanzih Campus" and "Cijin Campus" of National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology. History In order to increase the economic and trade development of southern Taiwan, the government established the Kaohsiung branch of the Provincial Keelung Marine and Fishery Senior Vocational School in 1946. Nanzih District, United States National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (also spelled Nanzi; ) is a district located in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan.
