NAIA Women's Bowling Championship
The NAIA Women's Bowling Championship is an annual tournament hosted by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics to determine the national champion of collegiate women's team ten-pin bowling among its members in the United States. The inaugural championship was originally scheduled to be held in 2020 but was delayed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. The tournament is held concurrently and at the same location as the NAIA Men's Bowling Championship. The reigning national champions are SCAD Savannah, who won their second title in 2023. Ten-pin Bowling
Ten-pin bowling is a type of bowling in which a bowler rolls a bowling ball down a wood or synthetic lane toward ten pins positioned evenly in four rows in an equilateral triangle. The objective is to knock down all ten pins on the first roll of the ball (a strike), or failing that, on the second roll (a spare). An approximately long ''approach'' area used by the bowler to impart speed and apply rotation to the ball ends in a ''foul line''. The , lane is bordered along its length by ''gutters'' (''channels'') that collect errant balls. The lane's long and narrow shape limits straight-line ball paths to angles that are smaller than optimum angles for achieving strikes; accordingly, bowlers impart side rotation to ''hook'' (curve) the ball into the pins to increase the likelihood of striking. Midland University is a private Lutheran university in Fremont, Nebraska. It has an approximate enrollment of 1,600 students on campus. Known as Midland Lutheran College from 1962 to 2010, the college is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Madonna University is a private Roman Catholic university in Livonia, Michigan. It was founded as the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Junior College by the Felician Sisters in 1937.
