Norway's Bandy Association
Norway's Bandy Association ( no, Norges Bandyforbund) is the governing body for the sports of bandy, floorball and field hockey in Norway. History Norwegian bandy was originally organised by the Football Association of Norway, but an independent federation for the 'winter football' was established in 1920. In the first years, this was called ''Norges Ishockeyforbund'', because bandy was called ''ishockey'' (ice hockey) back then, since it is a form of hockey played on ice, but when the Canadian sport of ice hockey came to Norway, the international name bandy was adopted for what was actually bandy, and the term ''ishockey'' was reserved for what now is called ice hockey. The present name ''Norges Bandyforbund'' was consequently adopted in 1929. The Norwegian bandyforbund has been pushing for bandy to be an Olympic sport, and their argument being that bandy has the second most players within winter sports behind hockey with 500000 players. The European Hockey Federation is a European sports federation for field hockey, based in Brussels. It is the umbrella organisation for all European national federations, and organises the Euro Hockey League. Marijke Fleuren was elected president on 22 August 2011. Field Hockey
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, synthetic field, or indoor boarded surface. The stick is made of wood, carbon fibre, fibreglass, or a combination of carbon fibre and fibreglass in different quantities. The stick has two sides; one rounded and one flat; only the flat face of the stick is allowed to progress the ball. During play, goalkeepers are the only players allowed to touch the ball with any part of their body. A player's hand is considered part of the stick if holding the stick. EuroHockey Championship IV
The EuroHockey Championship IV, formerly known as the EuroHockey Nations Challenge II, is a competition for European national field hockey teams. It is the fourth level of the European field hockey Championships for national teams. For men's national teams this is the lowest tier. There is promotion and relegation. The one or two first ranked teams qualify for the next Men's EuroHockey Championship III and are replaced by the one or two lowest-ranked teams from that tournament. The tournament has been won by seven different teams: Gibraltar has the most titles with two and Denmark, Greece, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia and Turkey have all won the tournament once. The most recent edition was held in Helsinki, Finland and was won by Hungary. The next edition was supposed to be held in Kordin, Malta in August 2021 but was cancelled due to the travel restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2015 Men's EuroHockey Championship IV was the sixth edition of the EuroHockey Championship IV, the fourth tier of the European field hockey championships. The 2021 Men's EuroHockey Championship IV was supposed to be the ninth edition of the EuroHockey Championship IV, the fourth level of the men's European field hockey championships organized by the European Hockey Federation. It was scheduled to be held from 1 to 7 August 2021 in Kordin, Paola, Malta. After four teams withdrew from the tournament due to the travel restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic the tournament was officially cancelled on 31 May 2021.
