North Korea Men's National Ice Hockey Team
The North Korea national ice hockey team () is the national men's ice hockey team of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea), and represent the country in IIHF competition. They withdrew from the 2007 World Championships, and therefore were automatically relegated to Division III in the 2008 edition, where they finished first. They then played in Division II during the 2009 edition, and finished last bringing them back down to Division III for 2010. They are currently ranked 56th in the IIHF World Rankings. History The game of ice hockey in North Korea became popular during the 1950s when Soviet and Chinese workers taught the game and its rules in the capital city of Pyongyang. 2024 IIHF World Championship Division III
The 2024 IIHF World Championship Division III consisted of two international ice hockey tournaments ran by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The Group A tournament was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, from 10 to 16 March 2024 and the Group B tournament in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, from 23 to 29 February 2024. Thailand secured the top spot and promotion in Group A, while Bosnia and Herzegovina won the Group B tournament and got promoted. The 2023 IIHF World Championship Division III were two international ice hockey tournaments run by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The Group A tournament was held in Cape Town, South Africa from 17 to 23 April and the Group B tournament in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina from 27 February to 5 March 2023. 2022 IIHF World Championship Division III
The 2022 IIHF World Championship Division III was an international ice hockey tournament run by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The Group A tournament was held in Kockelscheuer, Luxembourg from 3 to 8 April and the Group B tournament in Cape Town, South Africa from 13 to 18 March 2022. After the tournament was cancelled the two previous years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all teams stayed put in their divisions. The United Arab Emirates secured the top spot in Group A and were promoted to Division II, while South Africa won the Group B tournament and were promoted to Group A. Russia and Belarus were suspended from the 2022 and 2023 editions of the World Championship.
