Norma Jean (formerly known as Luti-Kriss) is an American metalcore band from Douglasville, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia, Atlanta. Formed in 1997, the band has evolved through various lineup changes, resulting in no original members remaining. To date, Norma Jean has released nine studio albums and received a Grammy Award nomination in 2006 for Grammy Award for Best Recording Package, Best Recording Package for their second album ''O' God, the Aftermath''. The band's name is derived from the real name of actress Marilyn Monroe. The Idea being that the band was forced to change their name from luti kriss, much like Marilyn herself was "forced". Norma Jean Beasler (born January 30, 1938) is an American country music singer who was a member of '' The Porter Wagoner Show'' from 1961–1967. She had 13 country singles in ''Billboard''s Country Top 40 between 1963 and 1968, recorded twenty albums for RCA Victor between 1964 and 1973, received two Grammy nominations, and was a Grand Ole Opry member for several years. ''Norma Jean'' is the debut, and only, solo studio album by American R&B singer Norma Jean Wright, released on Bearsville Records in 1978. The album was produced by Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers of the band Chic, and was the project directly following the band's successful self-titled debut album '' Chic'', which featured Wright on vocals. ''Norma Jean'' includes the singles "Saturday", a US R&B Top 20 hit (#15) in July 1978, " Having a Party" and "Sorcerer", and was followed by non-album single "High Society" (R&B #19, January 1980), also produced by the Chic team. Another track from the album, "I Like Love", was later sampled in Solitaire's 2004 single "I Like Love (I Love Love)". The album was reissued on CD with five bonus tracks by Sequel Records in 2000. The CD was soon out of print and commanded high prices on the collectors' market until reissued again in 2011 with the 7" versions of "Sorcerer" and "Having a Party" added. Jeanne Pruett (, ) (born Norma Jean Bowman; January 30, 1935) is an American country music singer and songwriter. She also has credits as a published author. Pruett had several major hits as a music artist, but became best-known for 1973's "Satin Sheets (Jeanne Pruett song), Satin Sheets". The song topped the country music charts and helped her secure a membership in the Grand Ole Opry cast. Pruett was raised near Pell City, Alabama, and grew up with a large family. She performed with her family from an early age and learned several musical instruments. She married guitarist Jack Pruett before turning 20 years old. Soon after, the couple moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he was hired to play guitar for country artist Marty Robbins. In the early 1960s, Pruett devoted more time to writing her own songs. "Candle in the Wind" is a threnody-style ballad written by English musician Elton John and songwriter Bernie Taupin, and performed by John. It was originally written in 1973, in honour of Marilyn Monroe, who had died 11 years earlier. In 1997, John performed a rewritten version of the song, "Candle in the Wind 1997", as a tribute to Diana, Princess of Wales. In 2004, ''Rolling Stone'' magazine listed the original version of the song at No. 347 of its 500 greatest songs of all time.
