Nobody's Children (1951 Film)
''Nobody's Children'' () is a 1951 French-Italian melodrama film directed by Raffaello Matarazzo and starring Amedeo Nazzari, Yvonne Sanson and Françoise Rosay.Moliterno p.292 It is one of a series of melodramas co-starring Nazzari and Sanson, which were very popular at the box office. The owner of a marble quarry falls in love with the daughter with one of his employees, and they have a baby together. However his mother attempts to sabotage the relationship with tragic consequences. It was followed by the 1955 sequel '' The White Angel''. Raffaello Matarazzo
Raffaello Matarazzo (17 August 1909 – 17 May 1966) was an Italian filmmaker. Life Matarazzo started writing film reviews for the Roman newspaper ''Il Tevere'' before re-editing scripts for the Italian film company Cines. His first films were comedies until he shifted to making melodramas. With '' Chains'', produced by Titanus in 1949, he became the most successful director in Italy. Audience loved his melodramas. Critics, however, have tended to disparage his work, saying that Matarazzo films were ''Neorealismo d'appendice'' (neorealism wannabe). Teresa Franchini (19 September 1877 – 11 August 1972) was an Italian stage and film actress. She was a leading lady of the theatre in her youth, appearing in the first Italian staging of Oscar Wilde's ''Lady Windermere's Fan'' in 1905. Loris Gizzi (16 August 1899 – 6 October 1986) was an Italian actor. Life and career Born in Rome, after his university studies Gizzi attended a school of dance and singing. He abandoned the courses when he became an employee of Ferrovie dello Stato, reaching the rank of sub-station master. He spent most of his time in France where he eventually made his film debut in the 1934 film ''Street Without a Name'' directed by Pierre Chenal.
