No Use For A Name
No Use for a Name (sometimes abbreviated NUFAN or No Use) was an American punk rock band from Sunnyvale, California, formed in 1986 by Chris Dodge (guitar), Steve Papoutsis (bass) and Rory Koff (drums). The band's sound evolved considerably through its career, starting off as a Bay Area-influenced punk band, moving on to a much heavier metallic-tinted sound to finally taking on a much lighter brand of melodic punk as the years passed. Following Tony Sly's death on July 31, 2012, the remaining members chose to disband the group out of respect for him. History No Use For a Name was formed in 1986 by longtime friends Dodge, Papoutsis and Koff. The early rehearsals of the band had taken place at the Koff family house in Sunnyvale, where they also came up with the name for the band. During this era, the band was fronted by Papoutsis' friend John Meyer. Initially a four piece, it later expanded to a six piece, adding as a co-vocalist Ramon Gras and a second guitarist Doug Judd. Bleeding Through
Bleeding Through is an American metalcore band from Orange County, California, formed in 1999. Influenced largely by hardcore punk and Swedish melodic death metal, the band was established by lead vocalist Brandan Schieppati as a personal project after leaving Throwdown (band), Throwdown. Schieppati, who also was a member of Eighteen Visions, originally balanced playing with Eighteen Visions and Bleeding Through, recording the independent albums ''Dust to Ashes'' (2001) and ''Portrait of the Goddess'' (2002) before departing Eighteen Visions to focus on Bleeding Through. The remainder of the band today comprises drummer Derek Youngsma, keyboardist Marta Demmel, and guitarists John Arnold and Brandon Richter. It was recorded in Fort Collins, Colorado at the Blasting Room with the producers Bill Stevenson & Jason Livermore (Descendents, Rise Against, Good Riddance, 7 Seconds). Release On January 20, 2008, ''The Feel Good Record of the Year'' was announced for release in three months' time, followed by the track listing three days later. ''All the Best Songs'' is a compilation album by the American punk rock band No Use for a Name, released July 10, 2007 through Fat Wreck Chords. A "best of" album, it compiles 24 tracks from the band's six studio releases between 1993 and 2005, as well as two previously unreleased songs recorded during sessions for their 2005 album '' Keep Them Confused''. Following the 2012 death of band leader Tony Sly, Fat Wreck Chords released an updated version of the album in 2016, dropping the two ''Keep Them Confused'' outtakes and adding four tracks from the band's final studio album, 2008's ''The Feel Good Record of the Year''.
