Nickelodeon Netherlands
The Dutch version of the broadcasting free-to-cable channel Nickelodeon in the Netherlands and through satellite in Belgium, was launched on 23 February 2002 (the first two programs were an episode of ''Rugrats'' titled "Tommy's First Birthday" and the ''Hey Arnold!'' episode "Downtown As Fruits / Eugene's Bike"). In addition to the general Nickelodeon programmes, original productions such as ''ZOOP'', ''Het Huis Anubis'', and ''SuperNick'' are also broadcast. The Dutch ''Kids' Choice Awards'' were presented in three years (2004, 2005 and 2007), featuring nominees that are relevant to the Dutch In 2010, the US ''Kids' Choice Awards'' aired, which included categories for the Netherlands and Belgium inserted into the broadcast. Nickelodeon has a separate version in Belgium with advertising and programming variations for Belgian viewers. Kindernet
Kindernet (as Nickelodeon Kindernet from 2011 to 2013) is a now-defunct, Dutch-language television network that aired classic and modern children's television series from the 1980s onward. Two iterations of the network have been broadcast; the original lasted from 1988 to 2003, while a Nickelodeon-branded return that launched in 2011 and ended in 2013 for two years. History Original (1988–2003) Kindernet started off as an idea by Dennis Livson, a Finnish producer and distributor of animated programmes in the 1970s. He believed that, at the time, children's programmes made for television were too violent for young viewers. He therefore started a network with so called "violence-free" cartoons. Johannes Hendrikus Hubert "John" de Mol Jr. is a Dutch media proprietor. De Mol is one of the men behind production companies Endemol and Talpa. Tien (TV Channel)
Talpa/Tien (meaning '' Ten'' in Dutch), previously known as Talpa, was the name of a commercial television channel in the Netherlands. Tien opened on 13 August 2005 as Talpa by Talpa Holding Company, following a name dispute with SBS Broadcasting. SBS Broadcasting owned the trademark " TV10" and objected to the use of the word Tien. The owner of Tien, Dutch media mogul John de Mol, decided to rebrand the channel as ''Talpa'', the Latin word for "mole", which is ''mol'' in Dutch. Subsequently Talpa became the name of De Mol's holding company. In the first months Talpa shared its channel space with Nickelodeon. CanalDigitaal is a provider of digital television via satellite for the Dutch market, using the Astra satellites at 23.5° east. Initially customers were mainly Dutch citizens in the countryside who did not have cable access. But in the meantime the company also managed to expand into the cities. This is sometimes complicated in the Netherlands due to local building codes restricting the placement of satellite dishes. The company now also actively markets its products to countries outside the Netherlands and it is no longer necessary to have a Dutch address or bank account to take out a subscription. Nickelodeon is a Belgian television channel that is derived from Nickelodeon Netherlands. The channel started in the summer of 2009 when it got its own programming. Via the satellite, the Dutch version is still being broadcast. The Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, also known as the KCAs or Kids' Choice, is an American annual awards ceremony show produced by Nickelodeon. Usually held on a Saturday night in March or early April, the show honors the year's biggest in television, film, music, and sports as voted by viewers worldwide of Nickelodeon networks.
