Cast Recording
A cast recording is a recording of a stage Musical theatre, musical that is intended to document the songs as they were performed in the show and experienced by the audience. An original cast recording or OCR, as the name implies, features the voices of the show's original cast. A cast recording featuring the first cast to perform a musical in a particular venue is known, for example, as an "original Broadway theatre, Broadway cast recording" (OBCR) or an "original West End theatre, London cast recording" (OLCR). Cast recordings are (usually) studio recordings rather than live recordings. The recorded song lyrics and orchestrations are nonetheless identical (or very similar) to those of the songs as performed in the theatre. Like any studio performance, the recording is an idealized rendering, without audible audience reaction. History The British were the first to create cast recordings, and they were also the first to create original London cast recordings of shows that had ...

John Lennon
John Winston Ono Lennon (born John Winston Lennon; 9 October 19408 December 1980) was an English singer-songwriter, musician and activist. He gained global fame as the founder, co-lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the Beatles. Lennon's Lennon–McCartney, songwriting partnership with Paul McCartney remains the most successful in history. Born in Liverpool, Lennon became involved in the Skiffle revival, skiffle craze as a teenager. In 1956, he formed the Quarrymen, which evolved into the Beatles in 1960. Lennon initially was the group's ''de facto'' leader, a role he gradually seemed to cede to McCartney, writing and co-writing songs with increasing innovation, including "Strawberry Fields Forever", which he later cited as his finest work with the band. Lennon soon expanded his work into other media by participating in numerous films, including ''How I Won the War'', and authoring ''In His Own Write'' and ''A Spaniard in the Works'', both collections of literary nonsense, ...

Hell In Paradise
"Hell in Paradise" is a song by Yoko Ono from the 1985 album '' Starpeace''. The lyrics are about mankind's perceived idea of hell, despite living in the paradise that Ono considers to be planet Earth. After " Walking on Thin Ice", it was her biggest hit of the 1980s, charting at number 16 on the US dance chart. Ono went on hiatus after ''Starpeace''; this would be her last proper single until 2001's remix of " Open Your Box". ''Ultimate Classic Rock'' critic Michael Gallucci rated it as Ono's 4th best song, calling it the "highlight" of ''Starpeace''. In 2004, the track was revived as part of the ONO remix project, and reached number 4 on the same chart twenty years on. In 2016, the song was re-released by the ONO project again, featuring remixes by Dave Audé and others. It reached number 1 on the Dance Club Songs chart. No, No, No (Yoko Ono Song)
"No, No, No" is a song by Yoko Ono from her 1981 album '' Season of Glass''. The song is one of the most dramatic tracks on the album to address her husband John Lennon's murder. The song begins with the sound of four gunshots (Lennon was shot in the back four times) and Ono screaming. The single version was longer than the album version and included a spoken word section of Sean Ono-Lennon recalling a story his father told him which was previously included on the album track "Even When You're Far Away". The B-side was "Will You Touch Me". The 12" version also contained "I Don't Know Why" and " She Gets Down on Her Knees". Release In January 2008, the song reached No. 1 on the United States ''Billboard'' Hot Dance Club Play chart. The artist credit was listed as simply "Ono" making the artist-title combination a palindrome ("onononono"). A digital single of new house remixes was released by Ono through Twisted Records and made available exclusively on Beatport from June 1, 2008. ...

We're All Water
"We're All Water" is a song written by Yoko Ono that was first released on the 1972 John Lennon and Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band album ''Some Time in New York City''. It was the last song on the first record of the album, and the last song on the album that was recorded in the studio (the second record was live). Lyrics and music Ono sings the lead vocal. The lyrics of "We're All Water" describe all people as being essentially the same, despite their apparent differences. Some of the lyrics were adapted from "Water Talk," a poem Ono had written in 1967 that also used the simile of people being like water. According to Beatles biographer John Blaney, Ono believed that water had mystical properties and has the ability to "bring about physical change or social unity." As a result, Ono had used water as a theme of other art works, including her 1971 exhibition ''This is Not Here'' where the audience was invited to produce a water sculpture that Ono would work on as well, establishing a ...

Now Or Never (Yoko Ono Song)
"Now or Never" is a song written by Yoko Ono that was first released on her 1973 album ''Approximately Infinite Universe''. It was also the lead single off the album, backed by " Move on Fast". A remixed version of "Move on Fast" was later released as a single and reached #1 on the ''Billboard'' Dance Club Songs chart. Background "Now or Never" is a political song. According to John Lennon's biographer Peter Doggett, the lyrics of "Now or Never" sum up Ono's philosophy that "Dream you dream alone is just a dream/But dream we dream together is reality." ''Cash Box'' described it as having "a delicate social commentary with an extremely important message that should be heard by all." ''Record World'' said that Ono is "more melodically and lyrically sound" than on previous songs and that this song has an "important message, so listen". ''New York Times'' music critic Stephen Holden described this line as expressing a "Beatles-style utopianism". A Yoko Ono press release described t ...

Never Say Goodbye (single)
"Never Say Goodbye" is the second single from Yoko Ono's 1982 album '' It's Alright (I See Rainbows)''. Like many of Ono's songs from this period, the lyrics deal with her emotional healing following the murder of her husband John Lennon. The upbeat new wave song samples a recording of Lennon screaming Yoko's name from their '' Wedding Album'', followed by her son Sean waking her, as if it were a bad dream. The song garnered minor airplay upon release. "Loneliness" appeared on the B-side. The 1995 '' New York Rock'' version was also released as a single. Midsummer New York
"Midsummer New York" is a song written by Yoko Ono that was released as the opening song of her 1971 album '' Fly'' and also as the B-side of the single " Mrs. Lennon". Lyrics and music "Midsummer New York" is based on the Elvis Presley song "Heartbreak Hotel". Norma Coates explains that the song begins as an "old-fashioned rock song" borrowing the melody and rhythm from "Heartbreak Hotel" as well as elements from the earlier song's accompaniment, but the references to early rock 'n' roll are undermined by Ono's vocal performance and by the lyrics. The lyrics express "female dread, fear and pain". Ben Urish and Ken Bielen interpret the lyrics as reflecting the "physical and psychological effects of a nightmarish panic attack". Coates feels that Ono's projection of these emotions are enhanced by the continual repetition of the word "shake" and "shaking". Ono restricts her vocal range and even when she nearly screams her words, Coates finds her voice to sound "oddly stifled". Musicolo ...

Beatle
The Beatles were an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960. The core lineup of the band comprised John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. They are widely regarded as the most influential band in Western popular music and were integral to the development of 1960s counterculture and the recognition of popular music as an art form. Rooted in skiffle, beat and 1950s rock 'n' roll, their sound incorporated elements of classical music and traditional pop in innovative ways. The band also explored music styles ranging from folk and Indian music to psychedelia and hard rock. As pioneers in recording, songwriting and artistic presentation, the Beatles revolutionised many aspects of the music industry and were often publicised as leaders of the era's youth and sociocultural movements. Led by primary songwriters Lennon and McCartney, the Beatles evolved from Lennon's previous group, the Quarrymen, and built their reputation by playing clubs in Liverpoo ...
