New York's 40th Congressional District
The 40th congressional district of New York was a congressional district for the United States House of Representatives in New York. It was created in 1913 as a result of the 1910 United States census, 1910 census. It was eliminated in 1973 as a result of the 1970 United States redistricting cycle, 1970 redistricting cycle after the 1970 United States census. It was last represented by Henry P. Smith III who was redistricted into the New York's 36th congressional district, 36th district. New York State Route 40 (NY 40) is a north–south state highway in eastern New York (state), New York in the United States. It is long and runs from New York State Route 7, NY 7 in the city of Troy, New York, Troy north to New York State Route 22, NY 22 in the town of Granville, New York, Granville. NY 40 also passes through the villages of Schaghticoke (village), New York, Schaghticoke and Argyle (village), New York, Argyle and enters the vicinity of the village of Greenwich (village), New York, Greenwich.
