Neuchâtel–Pontarlier Railway
The Neuchâtel–Pontarlier railway, also known as the Val-de-Travers line or the Franco-Suisse (Franco-Swiss) line, is a single-track standard-gauge railway line run by the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) and the French public railway infrastructure company Réseau ferré de France (RFF). History The Auvernier–Pontarlier line was opened on 25 July 1860. Even during the construction, there were disputes where the Neuchâtel railway station should lie. An already built section was abandoned and used instead for the La Chaux-de-Fonds–Neuchâtel railway. The line to the frontier station at Les Verrières belonged to the Franco-Swiss Company (''Compagnie Franco-Suisse'', FS) and the section from Les Verrières to Pontarlier belonged to the French Chemins de fer de Paris à Lyon et à la Méditerranée (PLM). Charles Denis Sauter Bourbaki (22 April 1816, Pau – 22 September 1897, Bayonne) was a French general. Career Bourbaki was born at Pau in extreme southwestern France, the son of Greek colonel Constantin Denis Bourbaki, who died in the Greek War of Independence in 1827. He was educated at the Prytanée National Militaire, entered École Spéciale Militaire de Saint-Cyr, and in 1836 joined the ''Zouaves'' (light infantry), becoming lieutenant of the Foreign Legion in 1838 and ''aide-de-camp'' to King Louis Philippe. The Armée de l'Est (''Army of the East''; German - Ostarmee; also Second Loire Army; nicknamed the 'Bourbaki army' after its first commander General Charles Denis Sauter Bourbaki) was a French army which took part in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870–71. It was formed towards the end of the war out of the remains of the Loire Army, paramilitaries (''Freischärlern'') and new recruits. The Chemins Company is a dietary supplement manufacturer based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The company, founded in 1974 by James Cameron, became embroiled in a series of criminal investigations in 1994 after a woman died and more than 100 other people became ill after taking one of the company's products marketed under the brand name Nature's Nutrition Formula One. The adverse events were later linked to the product having been tainted with ephedrine. The Franco-Swiss Company (French language, French: ''Compagnie Franco-Suisse'', FS) was a former railway company in Switzerland, formed in 1859 and absorbed into the Western Swiss Railways in 1872. It built the Neuchâtel-Pontarlier railway.
