Chiwere Language
Chiwere (also called Iowa–Otoe–Missouria or ) is a Siouan languages, Siouan language originally spoken by the Missouria, Otoe, and Iowa people, Iowa peoples, who originated in the Great Lakes region but later moved throughout the Midwest and plains. The language is closely related to Winnebago language, Ho-Chunk, also known as Winnebago. Non-Native Christian Missionary, missionaries first documented Chiwere in the 1830s, but since then not much material has been published about the language. Chiwere suffered a steady decline after extended European American contact in the 1850s, and by 1940 the language had almost totally ceased to be spoken. "Tciwere itce" (in the Otoe dialect) and "Tcekiwere itce" (in the Iowa dialect) translate to "To speak the home dialect." The name "Chiwere" is said to originate from a person meeting a stranger in the dark. Auburn is a city in Nemaha County, Nebraska, United States, and its county seat. The population was 3,470 at the 2020 census. History Auburn is an incorporation of two towns. Calvert and Sheridan combined to form Auburn in 1882, in part to have the voting power to wrestle the county seat away from Brownville, Nebraska, a village located ten miles east. The incorporation was successful, and in 1883, Auburn was named the county seat. The city is named after Auburn, New York. Falls City, Nebraska
Falls City is a city in and the county seat of Richardson County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 4,133 at the 2020 census, down from 4,325 in 2010 and 4,671 in 2000. History The site of Falls City is located on the north side of the Big Nemaha River, in the southeast corner of the state. The river in 1857 had banks and bed of rock and stone. The town was located near where the river flowed over a rock ledge called the "Falls of Nemaha", for which the town was named. The "falls" no longer exist due to changes to the river over the course of the 19th and 20th century. Falls City was founded in the summer of 1857 by James Lane, John Burbank, J. E.
