Neil Young Archives
The Neil Young Archives is a longtime project by singer-songwriter Neil Young. It started as a series of archival releases featuring previously released as well as unreleased studio and live recordings. It eventually developed into a website featuring almost the whole of Young's recording output throughout his career, available for streaming in ''high resolution audio'' format. The project has been long in the making – work began in the late 1980s. Throughout its development, Young himself has made several statements about the material included, release dates, and marketing that have proven false as the project was modified for new multimedia formats and expanded upon to accommodate new releases or other relevant material. Neil Young
Neil Percival Young (born November 12, 1945) is a Canadian and American singer-songwriter. After embarking on a music career in Winnipeg in the 1960s, Young moved to Los Angeles, forming the folk rock group Buffalo Springfield. Since the beginning of his solo career, often backed by the band Crazy Horse (band), Crazy Horse, he released critically acclaimed albums such as ''Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere'' (1969), ''After the Gold Rush'' (1970), ''Harvest (Neil Young album), Harvest'' (1972), ''On the Beach (Neil Young album), On the Beach'' (1974), and ''Rust Never Sleeps'' (1979). The Stray Gators
The Stray Gators was the name given by Neil Young to his supporting musicians from 1971 to 1973 and who backed him on the albums ''Harvest'' (1972) and '' Time Fades Away'' (1973). It consisted of Jack Nitzsche (piano), Ben Keith (steel guitar), Tim Drummond (bass) and Kenny Buttrey (drums); the latter replaced during the ''Time Fades Away'' tour by Johnny Barbata. Former Crazy Horse rhythm guitarist Danny Whitten briefly joined the group in 1972 but was fired by Young due to his poor performance during tour rehearsals, precipitating his death from an accidental overdose immediately thereafter. The Boarding House (nightclub)
The Boarding House was a music and comedy nightclub, located at 960 Bush Street in San Francisco, California, opened by David Allen in 1971 and closed in the early 1980s. Many comedians launched their career at The Boarding House including Robin Williams. Steve Martin's first three albums were recorded there, '' Let's Get Small'', '' A Wild and Crazy Guy'', and '' Comedy Is Not Pretty!'', in whole or in part. Ellen DeGeneres and Jay Leno have said they first met at The Boarding House. Museum Park (Miami)
Maurice A. Ferré Park (formerly Museum Park) is a public, urban park in downtown Miami, Florida. The park opened in 1976 on the site of several slips served by the Seaboard Air Line Railroad. It was originally named "Bicentennial Park" to celebrate the bicentennial of the United States in that same year. Today, the park is maintained by the Bayfront Park Management Trust. The Ducks
The Ducks (formerly known as the Jeff Blackburn Band) were a short-lived American rock group formed in the summer of 1977 by singer-songwriter Jeff Blackburn. The band included Bob Mosley (an original member of Moby Grape), Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young, and Johnny Craviotto. The band played a series of impromptu bar gigs around the Santa Cruz area in 1977. ''American Stars 'n Bars'' is the eighth studio album by Canadian-American folk rock songwriter Neil Young, released on Reprise Records in 1977. Compiled from recording sessions scattered over a 29-month period, it includes " Like a Hurricane", one of Young's best-known songs. Nicolette Larson
Nicolette Larson (July 17, 1952 – December 16, 1997) was an American singer. She is best known for her work in the late 1970s with Neil Young and her 1978 hit single of Young's " Lotta Love", which hit No. 1 on the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks chart and No. 8 on the pop singles chart. It was followed by four more adult contemporary hits, two of which were also minor pop hits. By 1985, she shifted her focus to country music, charting six times on the US country singles chart. Her only top-40 country hit was "That's How You Know When Love's Right", a duet with Steve Wariner. She died in 1997 of cerebral edema and liver failure. ''Odeon Budokan'' is a live album by Canadian-American musician Neil Young, released on September 1, 2023, on American record label Reprise Records. The album features recordings from performances from Young's 1976 tour with Crazy Horse in support of '' Zuma''. The tour was Crazy Horse's first with new guitarist Frank Sampedro. The first side features performances from the opening solo acoustic set at the Hammersmith Odeon on March 31, 1976. The second side features performances from the closing full band electric sets at the Nippon Budokan Hall on March 10 and 11, 1976.
