National Tainan Girls' Senior High School
The National Tainan Girls' Senior High School () is a public senior high school in West Central District, Tainan, Taiwan. It was established in 1917 and is considered one of the most prestigious high schools in Taiwan, usually only accepting students who rank in the top 3 percentile of the Taiwan Basic Scholastic Test. History This school was founded by incorporating two schools during the Japanese rule of Taiwan. One was the First Girls' Senior Middle School of Tainan County established in 1917, which recruited Japanese students. The other was the Second Girls' Senior Middle School of Tainan County established in 1921, which recruited Taiwanese students and renamed the Provincial Tainan First Girls' Middle School after the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China in 1945. Ting Yao-tiao
Ting Yao-tiao ( zh, t=丁窈窕, p=Dīng Yǎotiǎo, w=Ting1 Yao3-tʻiao3, poj=Ting Iáu-thiáu; December 21, 1927July 24, 1956) was a Taiwanese postal worker who is remembered for her execution during the White Terror after being falsely accused of espionage. Early life Ting Yao-tiao was born on December 21, 1927, as the fourth of ten children. After graduating from National Tainan Girls' Senior High School in 1945, she started working at the post office. White Terror (Taiwan)
The White Terror ( zh, t=, poj=Pe̍h-sek Khióng-pò͘, p=Báisè Kǒngbù) was the political repression of Taiwanese civilians and political dissenters under the government ruled by the Kuomintang (KMT). The period of White Terror is generally considered to have begun when martial law was declared in Taiwan on 19 May 1949, which was enabled by the 1948 Temporary Provisions against the Communist Rebellion, and ended on 21 September 1992 with the repeal of Article 100 of the Criminal Code, allowing for the prosecution of "anti-state" activities. Lin Yi-han
Lin Yi-han (; 16 March 1991 – 27 April 2017) was a Taiwanese writer. Life Lin Yi-han studied at the National Tainan Girls' Senior High School. Her father is a famous dermatologist in Tainan. Throughout her life, she had studied in university twice, first at Taipei Medical University studying medicine, then at National Chengchi University majoring in Chinese literature. She didn't finish her study, as she quit after 14 days and 3 years respectively. Lin married in 2016, and died of suicide at her apartment in Taipei on April 27, 2017, shortly after the publication of her first and only complete novel ''Fang Si-Qi's First Love Paradise'' (房思琪的初戀樂園), which tells a story of a teenage girl being sexually abused by her tutor. After the author's death, a statement made by her parents suggested that the novel was based on the author's own experiences.
