The National Federation of Agricultural Mutual Aid Societies Employees' Unions ( ja, 全国農業協同組合労働組合連合会, Zennokyo Roren) is a trade union representing workers at agricultural co-operatives and related organisations in Japan. The union was founded in 1956, and by 1970 it had 74,013 members. Long independent, in 1989 it was involved in establishing the National Trade Union Council, to which some of its local unions are affiliated, although this led others to split away and form the National Federation of Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Corporations' Workers' Unions. The union also affiliated to the new National Confederation of Trade Unions, and by 1990 it had 68,423 members. In 1991, the union merged into the All Japan Day Workers' Union, which renamed itself as the "Construction and Rural and General Workers' Union". Founding and history In the late 1980s there were many changes in the trade union movement in Japan. The two major bodies of trade unions, the General Council of Trade Unions of Japan (Sōhyō) and the Japanese Confederation of Labor (Dōmei), formed the National Confederation of Trade Unions ( Rengo) in 1989, advocating the importance of the Japanese Labor Union movement being unified. On the other hand, a number of other labor unions which felt Rengo was too conservative, formed the National Confederation of Trade Unions (Zenroren), which had a close relationship with the Japanese Communist Party. The All-Japan Day Workers' Union ( ja, 建設一般全日自劳, Zennichijiro) was a trade union representing construction workers on daily contracts in Japan. The union was founded in 1947 and was a founding affiliate of the General Council of Trade Unions of Japan. It initially represented all construction workers, but the craft workers' section of the union split away in 1952. By 1967, the union had 158,728 members.
