National Development Council (Taiwan)
The National Development Council (NDC; ) is the policy-planning agency of the Executive Yuan of Taiwan . History NDC was formed on 22 January 2014 after the merging of Council for Economic Planning and Development, Research, Development and Evaluation Commission, part of the Public Construction Commission and part of the Data Management Processing Center of the Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics. From July 2018, the NDC took over the duties for its streamlined Taiwan Province after the Executive Yuan dissolved the Taiwan Provincial Government. Taiwanese Mandarin
Taiwanese Mandarin, frequently referred to as ''Guoyu'' () or ''Huayu'' (), is the variety of Mandarin Chinese spoken in Taiwan. A large majority of the Taiwanese population is fluent in Mandarin, though many also speak a variety of Min Chinese known as Taiwanese Hokkien, which has had a significant influence on the Mandarin spoken on the island. Mandarin was not a prevalent spoken language in Taiwan before the mid-20th century. Early Chinese immigrants who settled in Taiwan before Taiwan under Japanese rule, Japanese rule mainly spoke other varieties of Chinese languages, primarily Hakka language, Hakka and Hokkien. Kuomintang
The Kuomintang (KMT) is a major political party in the Republic of China (Taiwan). It was the one party state, sole ruling party of the country Republic of China (1912-1949), during its rule from 1927 to 1949 in Mainland China until Retreat of the government of the Republic of China to Taiwan, its relocation to Taiwan, and in Taiwan Martial law in Taiwan, ruled under martial law until 1987. Chen Chien-jen (; born 6 June 1951) is a Taiwanese epidemiologist, geneticist, and politician who served as Vice President of Taiwan from 2016 to 2020 and Premier of Taiwan from 2023 to 2024 under President Tsai Ing-wen. Lin Chuan (; born 13 December 1951) is a Taiwanese economist, lawyer, and politician who served as the Premier of the Republic of China from 2016 to 2017. He was the first cabinet head under the Tsai Ing-wen government.
