Marshal Fahim National Defense University (MFNDU) is a military university located in Kabul, the capital city of Afghanistan. Established in 2005, the university is named after the late Marshal Mohammad Fahim, an Afghan political and military leader who served as the first vice president of Afghanistan from 2004 until his death in 2014. NATO Defense College (NDC) is the international military college for NATO, North Atlantic Treaty Organization countries. It is located in Rome, Italy. History The idea of a NATO Defense College originated with General Dwight D. Eisenhower, the first Supreme Allied Commander Europe, who identified very early on the need for a new international institution with a unique education mission. On 19 November 1951, the NATO Defense College opened its doors to Course 1 in Paris. In 1966, France withdrew from the Alliance's integrated military structure and the College moved to the EUR, Rome, EUR quartier of Rome. On 10 September 1999, the new College building, twice the size of the old one, was inaugurated in Cecchignola Città Militare, a military zone 2 km from the former site. Joint Service Defence College
The Joint Service Defence College (JSDC) was a training academy for British military personnel from 1983 to 1997. It has since been amalgamated into the Joint Services Command and Staff College. History The college was established as the Combined Staff College (CSC) in 1947. The college was an independent Ministry of Defence Establishment offering courses to officers of all three services. It was based at Latimer House in Latimer, Buckinghamshire. It was renamed the National Defence College (NDC) in 1971. On 12 February 1974, the IRA detonated a bomb at the NDC; there were no fatalities. In 1983 CSC was renamed the Joint Service Defence College (JSDC), and moved to the Royal Naval College, Greenwich. This is near the city of Jinja, approximately , by road, east of Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city. National Defence College (, abbreviated NDC) is a military academy in Myanmar's national capital of Naypyidaw. Opened in 1958, NDC was one of several training facilities opened in the mid-to-late 1950s, the most well known among them being the Defence Services Academy. NDC provides post-graduate master's degrees in defence studies to military officers. Since 1994, NDC has offered one-year courses for officers above the rank of colonel. In 2016, nearly all military MPs appointed to the Amyotha Hluttaw and the Pyithu Hluttaw had nearly all completed master's degrees at NDC.
