Nogometni klub Maribor () is a Slovenian professional Association football, football club based in Maribor, Slovenia. It competes in the Slovenian PrvaLiga, the top tier of the Football in Slovenia#League system, Slovenian football league system. Nicknamed "The Purples" ('), the club was founded on 12 December 1960. They are regarded as a symbol of Slovenian football, particularly in their home region of Styria (Slovenia), Styria in northeastern Slovenia. Nogometni klub Celje (), commonly referred to as NK Celje or simply Celje (), is a professional association football, football club from Celje, Slovenia. They play in the Slovenian PrvaLiga, the top tier of Slovenian football. The 1961–62 Yugoslav Second League season was the 16th season of the Second Federal League (), the second level association football competition of SFR Yugoslavia, since its establishment in 1946. The league was contested in two regional groups (West Division and East Division), with 12 clubs each. West Division Teams A total of twelve teams contested the league, including nine sides from the 1960–61 season, one club relegated from the 1960–61 Yugoslav First League and two sides promoted from the third tier leagues played in the 1960–61 season. Nogometni klub Kovinar Maribor (), commonly referred to as NK Kovinar Maribor or simply Kovinar, was a Slovenian football club from Maribor. The club was dissolved in 2006. History Kovinar Maribor was founded on 25 May 1947 and was located in the Tezno District of Maribor. During the booming economy in Maribor after the World War II, the club was financially supported by the local engineering industry company Metalna Maribor and the vehicle manufacturer TAM, both based in Tezno. Nogometni klub Branik Maribor (), known as NK Branik or simply Branik, was an association football club based in the city of Maribor. Founded on 29 January 1949 they traced their origin back to 1919 and the establishment of I. Nogometna šola Mura (), commonly referred to as NŠ Mura or simply Mura, is a Slovenian professional football club from Murska Sobota.
