NAIA Women's Basketball Championships
The NAIA women's basketball tournament has been held annually by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics since 1981 NAIA women's basketball tournament, 1981 to determine the national champion of women's college basketball among its members in the United States and Canada. The tournament was created to crown a women's national title for smaller colleges and universities, debuting one year before the first NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Championship, NCAA women's basketball tournament in 1982. From 1992 NAIA Division I women's basketball tournament, 1992 to 2020, the NAIA sponsored two championships, one for its Division I members and another for those in its NAIA Division II men's basketball championship, Division II. Rimrock Auto Arena At MetraPark
First Interstate Arena (colloquially known as The Metra) is a multi-purpose arena located at MetraPark, the fairgrounds of Billings, Montana. The arena has a capacity of 8,700 for ice hockey and Indoor American football, indoor football games, 10,500 for basketball, and up to 12,000 for concerts. Defending champions Southwestern Oklahoma State defeated Alabama–Huntsville in the championship game, 80–68, to claim the Bulldogs' second NAIA national title. The tournament was played in Kansas City, Missouri. Qualification The tournament field was again set at eight teams. All teams were seeded. The tournament utilized a simple single-elimination format, with an additional third-place game for the losers of the two semifinals. The Northern State Wolves are the athletic teams that represent Northern State University, located in Aberdeen, South Dakota, U.S., in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports.
