Monbetsu, Hokkaidō
is a city located in Okhotsk Subprefecture, Hokkaido, Japan; on the Sea of Okhotsk. The name comes from Ainu Mopet (Quiet River), Ainu "-pet" would be interpreted "-betsu" in Japanese as well of other city names in Hokkaido. As of September 30, 2016, the city has an estimated population of 22,983 and a population density of 27.67 persons per km2. The total area is . Shokotsu River
The is a river in Hokkaido, Japan. It is designated a Class A river by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Course The river rises on the slopes of Mount Teshio in the Kitami Mountains. After flowing through Takinoue, the river is joined by the Sakurū and Tatsuushi Rivers. Korsakov (Russian: Корсаков; 町, ''Ōdomari-chou / Ōtomari-chou'') is a town and the administrative center of Korsakovsky District of Sakhalin Oblast, Russia. Memanbetsu Airport
is an airport in the Memanbetsu section of Ōzora, Hokkaidō, Ōzora, a town in Hokkaidō, Japan. The airport is close to Shiretoko National Park and consistently has over one million passengers per year. History The current airfield was opened in April 1985, replacing the original Memanbetsu Airport closer to the current airport. The runway at the new airport was extended to its current length in 2000. The airport was located in the Town of Memanbetsu until 2006, when a merger consolidated Memanbetsu and the Village of Higashimokoto, Hokkaidō, Higashimokoto into the Town of Ōzora. In 2011, the Hokkaido government announced that landing fees would be waived for international charter flights using the airport in an attempt to lure more overseas tourists to the region.
