Michael Redden
Michael John Redden (born 17 May 1957) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the North Adelaide Football Club in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). He is the holder of the club games record for North Adelaide with 334 premiership games, and also played 44 pre-season/night series matches, kicking 11 goals. Recruited from the Orroroo Football Club in the Northern Areas Football Association, Redden made his SANFL debut in 1978. He played in North Adelaide's premiership teams of 1987 and 1991, and won the club's best and fairest award in 1983, being awarded life membership at North Adelaide in 1987. In 1993, he was appointed captain of North Adelaide, and captained the club until his retirement at the end of the season. Redden also played 11 matches in State of Origin football for South Australia, and was State Captain in 1991, being inducted into the SANFL Hall of Fame in 2002. Pekina is a town and locality in the Mid North region of South Australia. The town is located in the District Council of Orroroo Carrieton local government area, north of the state capital, Adelaide. At the , Pekina and the surrounding area had a population of 172. The name of the town is thought to derive from the Aboriginal word for "creek water". European settlement in the Pekina district began in earnest in 1846 when Price Maurice brought 3000 sheep to the district. The Pekina Station, "one of the most profitable sheep runs" in South Australia, became a stopping-point for coaches on the run between Blinman and Burra. North Adelaide Football Club
North Adelaide Football Club, nicknamed The Roosters, is an Australian rules football club affiliated with the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) and SANFL Women's League (SANFLW). The club plays its home games at Prospect Oval, located in Prospect, a northern suburb of Adelaide. The club joined the SAFA in 1888 as the Medindie Football Club (nickname Dingoes), changing its name to North Adelaide in 1893. Best And Fairest
In Australian sport, the best and fairest award recognises the player(s) adjudged to have had the best performance in a game or over a season for a given sporting club or competition. The awards are sometimes dependent on not receiving a suspension for misconduct or breaching the rules during that season. In the Australian Football League (AFL), the Brownlow Medal is awarded to the player who, provided he has not been suspended during the season, receives the most votes from the umpires for being the Fairest and Best player in games during the home and away season. In each game, the umpires award three votes to the player they judge to be the best afield in that game, two votes to the second-best player and one vote to the third-best player. Orroroo is a town in the Yorke and Mid North region of South Australia. At the 2016 Australian census, 2016 census, the locality of Orroroo had a population of 610 while its urban centre had a population of 537. The Wilmington-Ucolta Road passes through here, intersecting with the RM Williams Way which leads to the Birdsville Track, Birdsville and Oodnadatta Tracks.
