Michael Friedman (philosopher)
Michael Friedman (born April 2, 1947) is an American philosopher who serves as Professor of Philosophy and the Frederick P. Rehmus Family Professor of Humanities at Stanford University. Friedman is best known for his work in the philosophy of science, especially on scientific explanation and the philosophy of physics, and for his historical work on Immanuel Kant. Friedman has also done historical work on figures in continental philosophy such as Martin Heidegger and Ernst Cassirer. Friedman also serves as the co-director of the Program in History and Philosophy of Science and Technology at Stanford University. Education and career Friedman earned his BA from Queens College, City University of New York in 1969 and his PhD from Princeton University in 1973. He is the Frederick P. Michael Friedman (October 25, 1960 – May 5, 2020) was an American author, poet, editor, publisher, lawyer, and teacher. His most recent work, the fiction novel series ''Martian Dawn & Other Novels'' (2015) was recognized by Editor-in-Chief Lorin Stein of the ''Paris Review''. The collection includes his first novel ''Martian Dawn'', originally published in 2006 by Turtle Point Press, ''Are We Done Here?'' and ''On My Way To See You''. Michael Friedman (composer)
John Michael Friedman (September 24, 1975 – September 9, 2017) was an American composer and lyricist. He was a Founding Associate Artist of theater company The Civilians. His musical ''Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson'' opened on Broadway in October 2010. Friedman won a 2007 Obie Award for sustained excellence. Additionally, he received a MacDowell Fellowship, a Princeton Hodder Fellowship, a Meet The Composer Fellowship, and was a Barron Visiting Professor at The Princeton Environmental Institute in 2009. At the time of his death, he was the Artist in Residence and Director of the Public Forum at the Public Theater and was also the Artistic Director of City Center Encores! Off-Center. Purdue Pharma L.P., formerly the Purdue Frederick Company, is an American privately held pharmaceutical company founded by John Purdue Gray. It was owned principally by members of the Sackler family as descendants of Mortimer and Raymond Sackler. In 2007, it paid out one of the largest fines ever levied against a pharmaceutical firm for misleading the public about how addictive the drug OxyContin was compared to other pain medications. In September 2021 Purdue Pharma announced that it rebrand itself as Knoa Pharma. Although the company shifted its focus to abuse-deterrent formulations, Purdue continued to market and sell opioids as late as 2019 and continued to be involved in lawsuits around the opioid epidemic in the United States. Michael A. Friedman (born May 3, 1943) is a former music manager and producer, photographer and author. Career From 1966 to 1982, Friedman was a music publicist, artist manager, music producer and amateur photographer. He was a publicist for the Mamas and Papas, Glen Campbell, Herman’s Hermits, The Hollies, The Turtles, and The Bee Gees.  He then managed an unknown Todd Rundgren and his first band Nazz, producing the first “Hello it's Me” at the age of 24. In 1968, Friedman went to work Albert Grossman and helped run Grossman’s management firm ABGM in New York.
