Henry G. Manne (May 10, 1928 – January 17, 2015) was an American writer and academic, considered a founder of the law and economics discipline. He was Dean Emeritus of the George Mason University School of Law. Kate Alice Manne (born 1983) is an Australian philosopher, associate professor of philosophy at Cornell University, and author. Her work is primarily in feminist philosophy, moral philosophy, and social philosophy. Education and career Born in Australia in 1983, Manne grew up in Cottles Bridge, Victoria. Mordechai Tzvi Maneh (; 5 May 1859 – 15 October 1886), also known by the pen name Ha-Metzayer (; also an acronym of , 'The young man Mordechai Tzvi, native of Radoshkevich'), was a Russian Hebrew lyric poet, translator, and artist. Life and work Mordechai Tzvi Maneh was born to a poor Jewish family in Radashkovichy, Vilna Governorate. His father, Moshe Maneh, was a ''melamed'' and tombstone engraver. As a child, he received a traditional ''cheder'' education, and was sent at the age of thirteen to study at a ''yeshiva'' in Minsk. Maneh's parents encouraged his early artistic talent and, in 1876, he enrolled in the Vilna Art School. While there, he began to write nature poetry and mastered the Russian and German languages. Robert Michael Manne (born 31 October 1947) is an Emeritus Professor of politics and Vice-Chancellor's Fellow at La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia. He is a leading Australian public intellectual. Background Robert Manne was born in Melbourne to parents who were Jewish refugees from Europe. His earliest political consciousness was shaped by this fact and that both sets of grandparents were victims of The Holocaust. Sheldon "Shelly" Manne (June 11, 1920 – September 26, 1984) was an American jazz drummer. Most frequently associated with West Coast jazz, he was known for his versatility and also played in a number of other styles, including Dixieland, swing, bebop, avant-garde jazz, and later fusion.
