Mongezi Thomas Stuurman (22 September 1995 – 9 August 2021), known professionally as Mpura, was a South African rapper, fashion designer and record producer best known for his hit song "Umsebenzi Wethu", sang in Zulu language. He was also known for his most popular songs "Impilo Yase Sandton" Early life and education Mpura was born and raised in Chiawelo extension 3 Soweto, Gauteng . Sakhile Hlatshwayo (5 July 1998 – 9 August 2021), known professionally as Killer Kau, was a South African singer, dancer and record producer best known for his hit songs "Tholukuthi Hey" and "Amaneighbour" Early life and career Killer Kau was born on 5 July 1998 in Soweto, South Africa. He grew up singing in church before he joined the Stay PC church choir, singing baritone. He also went on to join the African Heavenly Soul Singers male choir. Tumelo Manyoni known professionally as Mr JazziQ, is a South African Amapiano DJ and record producer. He is best known for being a former member of the amapiano DJ duo, JazziDisciples. Early life and education Mr JazziQ was born and raised in Alexandra by his grandmother whilst his parents stayed in the north of Johannesburg. He attended Highlands North Boys’ High School. Amapiano
Amapiano is a genre of music from South Africa that became popular in mid-2012 with an earlier regular occurrence on South African radio stations in the early 2000s. It is a hybrid of kwaito, deep house, gqom, jazz, soul, and lounge music characterized by synths and wide, percussive basslines. The word "amapiano" derives from the IsiZulu word for "pianos". Origins There is ambiguity and debate concerning its origin, with various accounts of the musical styles in the Johannesburg townships. Because it has some similarities with bacardi house, some people assert the genre began in Pretoria but it remains uncertain. Various accounts of who formed the popular genre make it impossible to accurately pinpoint its origin. The word ''amapiano'' is a Zulu word that can be loosely translated to "pianos."
