Motorcycle Fork
A motorcycle fork connects a motorcycle's front wheel and axle to its motorcycle frame, frame, typically via a yoke, also known as a triple clamp, or triple tree, which consists of an upper yoke joined to a lower yoke via a steering stem, a shaft that runs through the steering head, creating the steering axis. Most forks incorporate the front Suspension (motorcycle), suspension and front brake, and allow the front wheel to rotate about the steering axis so that the motorcycle may be steered. Most motorcycle handlebar, handlebars attach to the top clamp in various ways, while clip-on handlebars clamp to the fork tubes, either just above or just below the upper triple clamp. PMZ-A-750
The PMZ-A-750 (Russian: ПМЗ-А-750) is a heavy motorcycle that was made in the USSR in the 1930s by Podol'skiy Mekhanicheskiy Zavod (" Podolsk Mechanical Plant", or PMZ). It is the first heavy motorcycle to have been manufactured in the USSR. History The NATI (Scientific Auto & Tractor Institute) in Moscow designed the PMZ-A-750 at the request of the Supreme Soviet of the National Economy. A main designer was Pyotr Mozharov, who had been responsible for early IZh motorcycle prototypes, and practised in the German BMW works. The design used a flathead V-twin engine like a Harley-Davidson; a pressed steel frame like the BMW R12 and R17; and an unusual trailing link front fork. Douglas (motorcycles)
Douglas was a British motorcycle manufacturer from 1907 to 1957 based in Kingswood, Bristol, owned by the Douglas family, and especially known for its horizontally opposed twin cylinder engined motorcycles and as manufacturers of speedway machines. The company also built a range of cars between 1913 and 1922. History The brothers William and Edwin Douglas founded the Douglas Engineering Company in Bristol in 1882. Initially doing blacksmith work, they progressed to foundry work. Joseph F. Barter's Light Motors Ltd. was one of Douglas's customers. Barter built a single-cylinder bicycle engine between 1902 and 1904; he then developed the Fée bicycle engine system. Softail
A softail (shortened form of ''soft tail'') motorcycle intentionally looks like vintage motorcycles with a rigid hard-tail frame that has a triangle of steel tubes at the rear axle, as on a bicycle frame, but on a Softail these tubes are actually a triangular swingarm, with the shock absorber(s) hidden, as opposed to clearly visible regular twin shocks on both sides of the rear wheel on standard bikes. Since the introduction of the Harley-Davidson ''FXST Softail'' in 1983 as a registered trademark of the Motor Company, ''softail'' has become a genericized trademark for other models of cruiser motorcycles with rear suspensions hidden for retro style reasons. Chopper (motorcycle)
A chopper is a type of custom motorcycle which emerged in the US state of California in the late 1950s. A chopper employs modified steering angles and lengthened forks for a stretched-out appearance. They can be built from an original motorcycle which is modified ("chopped") or built from scratch. Some of the characteristic features of choppers are long front ends with extended forks often coupled with an increased rake angle, hardtail frames (frames without rear suspension), very tall "ape hanger" or very short "drag" handlebars, lengthened or stretched frames, and larger than stock front wheel. To be considered a chopper a motorcycle frame must be cut and welded at some point. I.e. the name chopper.
