Molière Award
The Les Molière is the national theatre award of France and it recognises achievement of French theatre each year. The awards are considered the highest honour for productions and performances. Presided and decided by the ''Association professionnelle et artistique du théâtre'' (APAT), supported by the Ministry of Culture in a ceremony annually held, called the Nuit des Molières ("Night of the Molières") in Paris. The Les Molière are considered the highest French theatre honour, the equivalent to the American Tony Award, the British Olivier Award and the Spanish Premios Max. The award was created by Georges Cravenne, who was also the creator of the César Award for cinema. The name of the award is an homage to the seventeenth-century French dramatist Molière. Gérard Caillaud
Gérard Caillaud (; 10 April 1946 – 28 January 2023) was a French actor and theatre director. Biography Born in Poitiers on 10 April 1946, Caillaud studied at the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique until 1971, when he became a resident of the Comédie-Française. He performed many pieces by Molière until his departure in 1978. From 1984 to 1997, he was director of the Théâtre des Mathurins, where he staged plays such as ', which won him a Molière Award for Best Director in 1990. On television, he played the role of Capitaine Bonaventure in the series '' Sœur Thérèse.com''. Gérard Caillaud died on 28 January 2023, at the age of 76. Patrice Chéreau (; ; 2 November 1944 – 7 October 2013) was a French opera and theatre director, filmmaker, actor and producer.
