Mughal Empire
The Mughal Empire was an Early modern period, early modern empire in South Asia. At its peak, the empire stretched from the outer fringes of the Indus River Basin in the west, northern Afghanistan in the northwest, and Kashmir in the north, to the highlands of present-day Assam and Bangladesh in the east, and the uplands of the Deccan Plateau in South India.. Quote: "The realm so defined and governed was a vast territory of some , ranging from the frontier with Central Asia in northern Afghanistan to the northern uplands of the Deccan plateau, and from the Indus basin on the west to the Assamese highlands in the east." The Mughal Empire is conventionally said to have been founded in 1526 by Babur, a Tribal chief, chieftain from what is today Uzbekistan, who employed aid from the neighboring Safavid Iran, Safavid and Ottoman Empires Quote: "Babur then adroitly gave the Ottomans his promise not to attack them in return for their military aid, which he received in the form of the ...

MOGUL Framework
The Modular Online Growth and Use of Language (MOGUL) project is the cover term name for any research on language carried out using the ModulaCognition Framework(MCF). Basic assumptions MOGUL project research takes as its premise that the mind is modular in character, i.e. composed of functionally specialised systems. Two of these are specifically linguistic in nature and are unique to human beings. They interact with other expert systems such as vision both during the growth of language in the mind and during the processing of language (in comprehension, production, thinking, and even dreaming). Explanations are framed within a processing perspective. This, however, does not mean representations and their properties are left aside. Typically, research into linguistic theory and description avoids dealing with mental processes operating in real time; instead, the focus is on abstract structures without recourse to processing explanations. Psycholinguists, by contrast, focus on re ...

Mogul Skiing
Mogul skiing is a freestyle skiing, freestyle skiing competition consisting of one timed run of free skiing on a steep, heavily moguled course, stressing technical turns, aerial maneuvers and speed. Internationally, the sport is contested at the FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships, and at the Freestyle skiing at the Winter Olympics, Winter Olympic Games. Moguls are a series of bumps on a piste formed when skiers push snow into mounds as they do sharp turns. This tends to happen naturally as skiers use the slope but they can also be constructed artificially. Once formed, a naturally occurring mogul tends to grow as skiers follow similar paths around it, further deepening the surrounding grooves known as troughs. Since skiing tends to be a series of linked turns, moguls form together to create a bump field. The term "mogul" is from the Bavarian language, Bavarian/Austrian German word ''Mugel'', meaning "mound, hillock". Competition The first competition involving mogul skiing ...

LMS Stanier Mogul
The London Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) Stanier Class 5 2-6-0 or Stanier Mogul is a class of 2-6-0 mixed traffic steam locomotives. Forty were built between October 1933 and March 1934. Overview Although all built at Crewe Works, they were designed at Horwich Works and were developed from the Horwich Mogul, the LMS Hughes ''Crab'' 2-6-0. They had the addition of several features brought over from the Great Western Railway by newly arrived Chief Mechanical Engineer William Stanier, most notably the taper boiler (Stanier would have been familiar with the GWR 4300 Class). In an effort to please Stanier, Horwich had designed a GWR style top-feed cover and locomotive 13245 appeared with the feature fitted. Stanier was not at all pleased, ordering it promptly removed and replaced with the normal LMS cover. Due to a higher boiler pressure than the ''Crabs'' the cylinders were 3" smaller in diameter and so the cylinders were able to be mounted horizontally: the only Stan ...

LMS Hughes Crab
The London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) Hughes Crab or Horwich Mogul is a class of Locomotive#Use, mixed-traffic 2-6-0 steam locomotive built between 1926 and 1932. They are noted for their appearance with large steeply-angled cylinders to accommodate a restricted loading gauge. Overview Designed by George Hughes (engineer), George Hughes, chief mechanical engineer of the LMS, and built at the ex-Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway, L&YR works at Horwich Works, Horwich and the ex-London and North Western Railway, LNWR works at Crewe. The inspiration came from a Caledonian Railway design at the grouping, however the cylinders were too large for the LMS's English section's loading gauge, resulting in Hughes having to adapt the concept. They were put into service by his successor, Henry Fowler (engineer), Henry Fowler. The design incorporated a number of advanced features for the time such as long travel valves, compensated brake gear, a new design of tender and a new boil ...

GWR 4300 Class
The Great Western Railway (GWR) 4300 Class is a class of 2-6-0 (mogul) steam locomotives, designed by G.J. Churchward for Locomotive#Use, mixed traffic duties. 342 were built from 1911–1932. Background In 1906 Churchward fitted a more powerful Standard No. 4 boiler to his successful GWR 5100 Class, 3100 Class 2-6-2T to create the GWR 3150 Class. These showed themselves to be successful locomotives but their weight and water capacity meant that they tended to be restricted to suburban passenger traffic. Churchward was looking forward to the replacement of various of his predecessor’s 2-4-0 classes on secondary duties. In 1911 he therefore designed a tender version of the 3150 class which would be suitable for a wide range of intermediate duties. Design The class was ‘a total synthesis of standard parts, using the outside cylinders of the GWR 2900 Class, Saint, the wheels of GWR 5100 Class, ‘31XX’ 2-6-2 tank and the No. 4 boiler, in its superheated form.’ No prototyp ...

GER Class 527
The GER Class 527 was a class of fifteen 2-6-0 steam tender locomotives designed by William Adams for the Great Eastern Railway (GER). This was the last design that Adams prepared for the GER, although they did not enter service until his successor Massey Bromley had taken office and incorporated some modifications to the design. Overview In order to haul heavier trains and compete for the coal traffic into London, the GER asked William Adams to design a locomotive capable of hauling a train of 400 long tons net (700 tons gross). Prototype Tests were carried out with 265 class 4-4-0s to ensure that such trailing loads were feasible, followed by a prototype 2-6-0 number 527. Number 527 was the first locomotive in Britain to use the 2-6-0 wheel arrangement, and was named ''Mogul'' after the Great Moguls of Delhi, the epithet becoming the generic name for locomotives with that wheel arrangement. Numbering As was the GER's practice for locomotives built by outside contractors ...

2-6-0
Under the Whyte notation for the classification of steam locomotives, represents the wheel arrangement of two leading wheels on one axle, usually in a leading truck, six powered and coupled driving wheels on three axles and no trailing wheels. This arrangement is commonly called a Mogul. Overview In the United States and Europe, the 2-6-0 wheel arrangement was principally used on tender (rail), tender locomotives. This type of locomotive was widely built in the United States from the early 1860s to the 1920s. Although examples were built as early as 1852–53 by two Philadelphia manufacturers, Baldwin Locomotive Works and Norris Locomotive Works, these first examples had their leading axles mounted directly and rigidly on the frame of the locomotive rather than on a separate truck or bogie. On these early 2-6-0 locomotives, the leading axle was merely used to distribute the weight of the locomotive over a larger number of wheels. It was therefore essentially an 0-8-0 with an un ...

Hollywood Mogul
''Hollywood Mogul'' is a video game for MS-DOS published in 1993. It was designed and published by Carey DeVuono as the Hollywood Mogul Company. The game is an economic simulation of a movie studio. Players choose movie plots to use for a movie, set production budgets and select the talent. Goal is to create movies which make money. Players juggle the added concerns of movie budgets, cost over-runs, and irritable actors and directors in order to succeed. The original version was written in Visual Basic. A Microsoft Windows version was released in 1997. A sequel, ''Hollywood Mogul 3'', was released in late 2006. Gameplay ''Hollywood Mogul'' has five difficulty levels to choose from, each with higher annual budgets. A higher annual budget causes higher monthly expenses, making it more difficult to keep the studio profitable, which provides a greater challenge to the player. #New In Town ($125,000,000 annual budget) #Still Green ($250,000,000 annual budget) #On My Way ($500,000, ...
