Christer Sjögren
Hans Christer Sjögren (; born 6 April 1950) is a Swedish singer, songwriter and musician. He is best known as the lead vocalist of the dansband group Vikingarna (band), Vikingarna. Early life Hans Christer Sjögren was born in Hagfors, Sweden, on 6 April 1950, as the child of Eivor (née Östling) and Hans Sjögren. Career 1978–2004: Vikingarna On 15 September 1978, Stefan Borsch left the band and Sjögren reluctantly became their lead singer. The first album by Vikingarna with Christer Sjögren as singer is "Kramgoa låtar 7", released in 1979. 2008–present He competed in Melodifestivalen 2008, the Swedish preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest. "Save the Last Dance for Me" is a song written by Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman, first recorded in 1960 by American musical group the Drifters with Ben E. King on lead vocals. It has since been covered by several artists, including the DeFranco Family, Dolly Parton, and Michael Bublé. Drifters' version In a 1990 interview, songwriter Doc Pomus tells the story of the song being recorded by the Drifters and originally designated as the B-side of the record.
