Mitsuoka Viewt 1994
is a small Japanese automobile company. It is noted for building cars with unconventional styling, some of which are modern while most others are retro style, retro-styled to imitate the look of American, European and particularly British cars of the 1950s and 1960s. Mitsuoka Motors is also the principal distributor of the retro-classic TD2000 roadster in Japan. Mitsuoka is primarily a custom design coachbuilder, customizing production cars, e.g., the Nissan March, and replacing various aspects of the bodywork. It has also produced a sports car, the Mitsuoka Orochi, Orochi, and has a special department for hearses. The Mitsuoka Himiko is a luxury roadster designed and built by Mitsuoka. It is named after Himiko, an obscure shaman queen of Yamataikoku in ancient Wa. In the UK it is known as the Mitsuoka Roadster. First generation (2008-2018) Based on the Mazda MX-5 NC, Mitsuoka replaces most of the body panels, fits fibre-reinforced plastic paneling, leather seats and extends the wheelbase front of the A-pillar to generate the long bonnet line reminiscent of English roadsters such as the Jaguar XK120 and Morgan Aero 8. Designed by Takanori Aoki, the exterior theme of the Himiko is said to mimic a 'ship riding the high seas cruising majestically as one with the waves'. Transmission and roof options are similar to the MX-5 with the option of either a 6 speed automatic transmission with manual shifting or a 6 speed manual transmission. The Mitsuoka Galue is a series of luxury cars, based on mainstream Japanese automobiles, customized by Mitsuoka to resemble classic British and American cars. First series The first series consists of three generations of medium-to-large cars: the Galue-I, the Galue-II and the Galue-III. Galue-I The Galue-I was based on the Nissan Crew, and shared its RB20E 2-litre engine and other mechanical parts with the Crew. The Mitsuoka Viewt is a series of retro-styled subcompact cars sold by the Japanese automaker Mitsuoka, intended to resemble the 1963 Jaguar Mark 2. The Viewt is Mitsuoka's best selling model. The Mitsuoka Le-Seyde is a limited production Grand Tourer manufactured in the early 1990s, based on the Nissan Silvia#S13, Nissan Silvia S13. Only 500 units were made, and Mitsuoka claims that all were sold within four days after they went on sale. The Le-Seyde is considered a "neoclassic" car, featuring a retro design inspired by cars of the 1920s and 1930s.
