Finland was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the song "", written by Jarkko Ahola, and performed by the band Teräsbetoni. The Finnish participating broadcaster, (Yle), organised the national final in order to select its entry for the contest. 12 entries were selected to compete in the national final, which consisted of three semi-finals, a Second Chance round and a final, taking place in February and March 2008. Eight entries ultimately competed in the final on 1 March where votes from the public selected "" performed by Teräsbetoni as the winner. Finland was drawn to compete in the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 20 May 2008. Performing during the show in position 16, "" was announced among the 10 qualifying entries of the first semi-final and therefore qualified to compete in the final on 24 May. Teräsbetoni
Teräsbetoni is a Finnish heavy/power metal band. Their first album, ''Metallitotuus'', was released in 2005 and has so far sold more than 32,000 copies. Teräsbetoni has been strongly influenced by bands such as Manowar. The direct translation of the band's name is "steel concrete", Finnish for " reinforced concrete". The music of Teräsbetoni has a martial air to it, with lyrics glorifying a pagan warrior lifestyle and a "brotherhood of metal". The style has received mixed reception. Band members themselves have said that they are not dead serious about the band's mentality and are having fun with it. Kulttuuritalo (, ) is a building in Alppila, Helsinki, Finland. The building was designed by Alvar Aalto, and is considered to be one of his main works. Vuokko Hovatta
Ultra Bra ("ultra good" in Swedish) was a Finnish band, formed in 1994 by Olli Virtaperko and Kerkko Koskinen and disbanded in 2001. The band will make a comeback in 2025 with two concerts at Helsinki Olympic Stadium. Band history In 1994, Olli Virtaperko heard about a political song contest held by the Finnish Democratic Youth League, the youth organisation of the Finnish People's Democratic League. Movetron is a Finnish Eurodance and pop band, first established in the mid-1990s by Päivi Lepistö, Jukka Tanttari, and Timo Löyvä, and re-established in 2007. 1994–2000 Their first album ''Romeo ja Julia'' sold double platinum, peaked at #1 and stayed in the official Finnish Album charts for 38 weeks. Kerkko Klemetti Koskinen (born 7 January 1973)Kuka kukin on 2007, Otava 2006 is a Finnish musician. Koskinen was the founding member and lead figure of the band Ultra Bra.
