Missouri's 12th Senatorial District is one of 34 districts in the Missouri Senate. The district has been represented by Republican Rusty Black since 2023. Geography The district is based in rural northwestern Missouri and includes Andrew, Atchison, Caldwell, Carroll, Chariton, Clinton, Daviess, Dekalb, Gentry, Grundy, Harrison, Holt, Linn, Livingston, Mercer, Nodaway, Sullivan, Worth, and northeastern Buchanan counties. Rusty Black
Rusty Black is an American politician. He is a Republican representing the 12th district in the Missouri Senate. He previously represented the 7th district in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023, elected in 2016, 2018, and 2020. Personal life Black was born in Saint Joseph, Missouri and graduated from high school in King City, Missouri. He holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science, both in Agriculture Education, from the University of Missouri, and worked as an agriculture educator for 32 years before retiring in 2016. He and his wife live in Chillicothe, Missouri and have four children. Nodaway County, Missouri
Nodaway County is a county located in the northwest part of Missouri. As of the 2020 census, the population was 21,241. Its county seat is Maryville. The county was organized February 14, 1845, and is named for the Nodaway River. It is the largest county by area added to Missouri in the 1836 Platte Purchase and the fifth-largest county by area in Missouri. Brad Lager
Brad Ronald Lager (born July 20, 1975, in Maryville, Missouri) is a Republican politician from the state of Missouri. He is a former member of the Missouri Senate from the 12th District as well as a former member of the Missouri House of Representatives and former candidate for State Treasurer in 2008. Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge
Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge is a National Wildlife Refuge established in 1937 and located in Chariton County, Missouri, south of the town of Sumner. It is located near the confluence of the Grand and Missouri Rivers. Following the purchase of the land, the Civilian Conservation Corps began work on the refuge creating wetlands, constructing roads and buildings, and initiating the refuge farming program. The primary purpose of the refuge is to provide nesting, resting, and feeding areas for waterfowl, primarily ducks. Two hundred and forty-one avian species have been observed residing on or passing through the refuge; another fourteen birds, listed under accidentals on thbird list have been reported but are not normally expected to be present. An important secondary purpose was to preserve a remnant flock of prairie chickens. However, adequate grassland habitat to maintain a viable population of these birds was not available. Northwest Missouri State University (NW Missouri) is a public university in Maryville, Missouri, United States. It has an enrollment of 9,152 students. Cameron is a city in Clinton, DeKalb and Caldwell counties in the U.S. state of Missouri. The population was 8,513 at the 2020 census.
