Prague 1, formally the Prague 1 Municipal District (), is a Prague city districts, second-tier municipality in Prague. It is co-extensive with the national administrative district (''správní obvod'') of the same name. Prague 1 includes most of the medieval heart of the city. All of Staré Město (Prague), Staré Město (the Old Town) and Josefov (Prague), Josefov (the Jewish Quarter) are in the district, as are most of Malá Strana (the Little Quarter), Hradčany and Nové Město (Prague), Nové Město (the New Town). Malá Strana ( Czech for "Little Side (of the River)", ) or historically Menší Město pražské () is a district of the city of Prague, Czech Republic, and one of its most historic neighbourhoods. In the Middle Ages, it was a dominant center of the ethnic German (and since 16th century also Italian) citizens of Prague. Mikuláš Bek (born 22 April 1964) is a Czech musicologist and politician, who has been serving as Minister of Education, Youth and Sports in Petr Fiala's Cabinet since May 2023. He previously served as the Minister of EU Affairs from December 2021 to May 2023.
