Minbō No Onna
is a 1992 in film, 1992 Cinema of Japan, Japanese film by Film director, filmmaker Juzo Itami. It is also known by the titles ''Minbo: the Gentle Art of Japanese Extortion'', ''The Gangster's Moll'' and ''The Anti-Extortion Woman''. The film was widely popular in Japan and a critical success internationally. It satire, satirizes the yakuza, who retaliated for their portrayal in the film by attacking the director. Plot summary The owner of a high-class Japanese hotel, the Europa, hopes to win a prestigious and lucrative contract for the hotel as the site of a Summit (meeting), summit meeting between important international officials. Unfortunately, the yakuza have taken a liking to this hotel as both a hangout and a target for extortion. In order to win the contract, the owner realizes, he must rid the hotel of the yakuza. Juzo Itami
, born , was a Japanese actor, screenwriter and film director. He directed eleven films (one short and ten features), all of which he wrote himself. He is the namesake of the Juzo Itami Award, founded in 2009 to honor his legacy. Early life Itami was born Yoshihiro Ikeuchi in Kyoto. The name Itami was passed on from his father, Mansaku Itami, a renowned satirist and film director before World War II. In his childhood, he went by the name Takehiko Ikeuchi (池内 岳彦). At the end of the war, in Kyoto, Itami was chosen as a prodigy and educated in a ("special scientific education class"), where he began to be trained as a future scientist who was expected to defeat the Allied powers. Among his fellow students were the sons of Hideki Yukawa and Sin-Itiro Tomonaga. The program was abolished in March 1947. He moved from Kyoto to Ehime Prefecture when he was a high school student.
